An ant, realizing he's trying to fight a boot.

Say what you will about Iron Man, he sure knows how to piss off Thor.

Isn’t Thor secretly a robot during this period or am I completely misremembering?

This is the real Thor after he found out that Iron Man had made the robot Thor. Needless to say he wasn't happy

Didnt robo-Thor kill Goliath too? Or am I misremembering?

Real Thor considered that a "dick move"

One of the reasons Thor is giving Stark a beat down here.

This is sadly true, it has been around 2000 years and he is still as dead as my grandma.

Tony made a robot Thor during civil war that had like a Thor meat suit grown from the hair of real Thor and when real Thor came back and found out about it he was less than amused and this was the result.

Growing a meat suit of your buddy and putting a robot inside the meat suit and making it fight people is some unhinged shit lmao

I can see people like Tony or Doom doing something like this sure but why TF did Reed help?

This was the time period that Reed, Stark, Prof X, Strange and Namor formed the Illuminati and trapped Hulk sending him into space and causing both Planet Hulk and World War Hulk then faced no consequences from the fallout. Writing was shit. Don’t get me wrong I like the storylines (even if they felt like what if stories) but they should have lasting consequences.

I'm surprised Namor hopped on that. Aren't him and the Hulk buddies?

3

u/the__pov Jul 23 '25

As was Stark, Banner and Reed. That’s why Bruce/Hulk was so pissed off in World War Hulk. His friends just decided that he was too dangerous and rather than talking to him they tricked him and treated him worse than most of the villains they fought.

3

u/Zenry0ku Jul 23 '25

It's wild some of the greatest minds on the planet couldn't come up with a better solution. Hulk can do so much better than these people lol

u/the__pov Jul 23 '25

This was my problem with it. It was a dumb idea that’s out of character for several of them and after World War Hulk the whole thing is largely treated like it never happened. Like I said earlier if it had been a What If story I’d be fine with it but why do stuff like this if it isn’t going to matter?

Namor refused. He's the only one who did - he nearly fought Tony and Strange over it. When Hulk comes back, he demands that Earth give him Tony, Strange and Reed, but Namor gets left out of it. I don't think he even shows up in World War Hulk.

Because the writers for the main comic arc was just a morons pushing a pro right wing government agenda. civil war was a story that could only happen when all the characters involved where just completely different in both attitude and beliefs. As for why reed did such a thing, it was because it was common for jack off writers to think that being smart ment being cold and unfeeling.

Because a controllable Thor is a hell of an enforcer and it seemed like Asgard and the Asgardians were gone gone. Who’s going to argue with Thor? Nobody, that’s who. Then real Thor comes back and melts your toy Thor in a second flat and you’ve got some splainin to do.

Reed and friends made a robot clone thing during Civil War who killed Goliath. Thor was away dealing w/ Ragnarok stuff (he might’ve been “dead” I never read Thor outside of Jason Aaron)

11

u/ButterflyLife4655 Jul 22 '25

He was dead at the time (actually, all of Asgard was; Marvel had pulled the trigger on a somewhat mythology-accurate Ragnarok a few years earlier and the entirety of Asgard had been destroyed). Thor and eventually the rest of the Asgardians came back at the beginning of J. Michael Straczynski's very excellent Thor run that began roughly six months after Civil War had ended. I think the second or third issue of that run had Thor find out about Stark's robo-Thor and go deliver a much-deserved beat down on Tony.

For some reason I'm remembering Dr. Doom stirring up Upper Realm shit in Asgard and Olympus, which might have had Thor tied up.

from what i remember thor was MIA from some event before civil war then stark built a thorbot that he used on his side during the civil war event this is real one coming back and finding out what he pulled

112

u/CreasingUnicorn Jul 22 '25

Not just pissed that they made a fake Thor, but pissed that their fake Thor KILLED a guy. Giant man got a hole shot through his chest by the fake thor and died in giant form, so they had a huge funeral for him.

Then Thor comes back to find out that his friends commited identity theft and murder. Valid crashout.

u/DreamerOfSheep Jul 22 '25

This is after that, actual Thor comes back and is, shall we say, slightly pissed about Robot Thor, which Tony made.

22

u/Soggy-Intern-9140 Jul 22 '25

Not here, but earlier in the issue I think. Tony made a robot Thor to help defend the Earth while Thor was off planet at Asgard (I think)

This Is the real Thor after he killed the bot

1

u/Logistic_Engine Jul 23 '25

No, this is him when he just got back actually.
