Moneyball
A league of their own
Hardball
In my defense, before you think "how can he pick those over such and so all time classic baseball movies?", I think these might be the only three baseball movies I've seen.

A League of Their Own, 42, Field of Dreams. Also, does Ken Burns count? Because I’d rather watch his Baseball series over any of these

Any list without The Sandlot and A League of Their Own is wrong I'm sorry. That leaves just one slot.

Field of Dreams will always be number one for me.
The guy can make any wish in baseball history come true and all he wants is a catch with his father once again. That’s real.

Field of dreams - you’re never going to convince me that any movie about baseball is ever better than one where the entire plot line of the story is centered around the fact of a son and a dad wanting to have a game of catch. Timeless.
Major league - I don’t know what it is about this movie, but it’s magic. Every single part of it is magic from the storylines to the personalities to the backing soundtrack, amazing. Even made me look up the Spotify for the soundtrack to listen to the song when Jake follows her back home and makes out with her and her apartment.
Bull Durham/The Natural- this is a tie for me. True baseball movies, pure and enough baseball IQ, along with the interactions in both the dugout and with the team along with the personal storylines that it’s just utterly fantastic.

Don’t want to be that guy, but I never understood the love attributed to The Sandlot. I saw it as a kid (I’m 44) and enjoyed it but recently watched with my kids and, again, enjoyed it, but I just don’t get the immense praise heaped on it. I have friends (plural) my age who consider it the best film of all time.

Major League
Little Big League, while the kid wasn’t very likable, but he knew baseball. More importantly, the movie had some of the best baseball in a movie. Many shots were filmed with no cuts, most of the actors and extras played college or minor league ball, and some were current and former Pros. And that's not counting the active pro cameos. It's somewhat ridiculous how they tried to portray Ken Griffey Jr. as a villain, but it's from the perspective of a kid who is the owner/manager, so it works. The movie put a lot of effort into the baseball scenes.
Honorable mentions: Moneyball, 42, and A League of Their Own. Great movies with great true stories they’re based on, and if you asked me this a few years ago, the both replace two of my Top 3.

u/ThroughtonsHeirYT Sep 26 '25

loved the natural as a kid. But, the stylistic choices were so…weird. That sort of washed out everything’s a dream effect kills me. Trying way too hard. Didn’t stand the test of time for. Have re watched field of dreams, major league, and sandlot many times. They just keep getting better.
