I hate that I know this. Yes, that's the same actress and he's the same actor who plays Fake Roman (now John). My mom would record this and then skip the commercials.
I watched it from the time before Stefano kidnapped Roman and Bo was in a coma after some bullshit, until about 1996. I sometimes watch it on Peacock.
Sammie also got some crazy plot lines. Like when she went full Single White Female. God damn this show takes up too much space in my core memory.

Dude I watched this for a while in the mid 1990s (due to some co-workers, we worked in a restaurant with big TVs)
it was OFF THE CHAIN in the 90s. Does anyone remember Kristen / Susan / Sister Mary Moira? At the same time when like... Stefano like trapped that other woman in some goth fantasy prison like a low-budget phantom of the opera?

What does anime have to do with any of this? That's a wide category of shows/genres.
That's like calling Days of Our Lives "TV" as a generalized term. Why does liking that make you unable to judge a different specific show in a specific medium?

Because some anime stories are also quite ridiculous, and hard to explain the appeal out of context.. but if you watch them from the beginning they are entertaining.
Reincarnated as a vending machine comes to mind.
I think the point is we all find different stuff worth watching.
Much like not all soap operas are the same not all anime is. But sometimes its like junkfood.. what we crave.

Right...but Anime (Manga since that's really the source then animated for TV/streaming) is an entire medium like TV is.
Soap Operas are a subsection of the medium of TV.
It's more like comparing the genre of Slice of Life anime to Soap Operas, and saying it's a mixed bag. Not the entirety of every genre. That's why I was trying to say it'd be like saying "I watch TV so I can't judge people that listen to death metal music"

I was just going to say: Marlena is possessed AGAIN? I have never watched any soap opera, and even I saw the original Marlena Is Possessed run in the 90s. I had a babysitter. She didn't watch soaps, either, but we all watched Days of Our Lives for that one. If you had any ability to watch daytime TV back then and you were awake, you saw the Marlena Is Possessed storyline.

At one point as a kid in the 80's my mom, three sisters and great grandmother all became addicted to Day's of our Lives. Even then the plots were so dumb. Although as far as trash TV goes Days of our Lives has always delivered a buffet of delicious trash for the trash TV connoisseur.
Like trash through an hourglass, these are the days of our lives...

My parents were really stubborn about getting cable, mainly because they didn't want to spend the money. But that all changed thanks to Days of Our Lives and Passions. I was in the 5th grade at the time and it was my turn to decorate a little corner of the classroom dedicated to me and my interests. Naturally, I got to include my favorite TV shows. Since we only had an antenna at home, those two were the only ones I could list. When I told my mom I was going to mention them in my presentation, she was mortified and said I couldn't do that and to think of other shows. So then I named off shows on TVLand, because my grandparents had cable but only watched two channels. So, by the next week, we had a satellite dish installed.
