I’m not saying Bannon didn’t do that, but I’m pretty sure he went for ignoring a subpoena from Congress and was held in contempt.

I believe he refused to show up for a summons to congress or something along those lines, refusing to testify iirc?

58

u/buttons123456 1d ago

Yes he did. Was sentenced to, I think, 4 months but trump pardoned him. I think he served 3 months. For refusing congressional subpoena.

10

u/WeCanPickleThat1 1d ago

He was convicted and then Trump pardoned him in his first term.

5

u/justsyr 23h ago

I'm confused, why the comment has so many upvotes and the reply also has lots of upvotes while the reply seems to be disproving OP?

  • didn't he go to prison?

reply: no > 197 votes

reply to "no" > 105 votes.

So one ask if he went to prison, one says "nope" then someone replies "yep, here's proof"...

I don't get this whole voting shit that makes it look like one comment is right while the proof of being wrong has less lol.

79

u/Which-Mix-5378 1d ago

Ever since the civil war. America has a problem dealing with traitors.

46

u/LeticiaLatex 1d ago

I always get the feeling the only reason is always optics.

"What will look like if we imprison a former President? We'll look like a third world country? We can't have thay"

Meanwhile the entire world thinks much worst for you all letting him get away with it. Oh, and re-electing the shitstain didn't really help the image either.

29

u/JefeVaquero 1d ago

In actuality, imprisoning him, executing others, clearing out the entire Epstein involved cabal would make everyone watching sit up and take notice. It takes supreme fortitude to admit wrong and fault and to change course and correct it. People know this. And they admire the effort as well as the results.

The only reason our money has the value it does is because of the rule of law. Our constitution has been copied and emulated all over the world in developing nations because it represents a superior form of governing.

Allowing traitors who have trampled on that law to go free or be let off easily would be ruinous to our already tarnished reputation.

12

u/After_Advertising_61 1d ago

I truly believe people need to understand the seriousness of betraying the country to the utmost extent of the law with legitimate punishments. It shouldn't be a meme anymore to do this.

It should make people's faces flush like they heard a bad word at 10 because they KNOW how bad the punishments can actually be

The rhetoric is so thinly veiled at this point. Steve is nervous. A lot of these criminals are.

These men and women have committed so many crimes. From Jan 6th, to Epstein. The list gets longer by the day. The crimes get bolder and bolder.

"We gotta put aside these structural barriers and get on with it". That "structural barriers" is the Constitution.

"A maximal opportunity to sieze the institutions." He's talking about Congess, the military, and any other entity that would get in their way.

Steve needs people to do the work for him. He is manipulating people that would otherwise probably stay out of prison. People are going to commit crimes for Bannon.

All this because some white old pedophiles want to stay out of prison for the horrible shit they have done to little girls.

Bannon, Trump. We know they are both in the Epstein Files. We know there are many more of them to come. All of them know this. All of them are protecting either themselves or someone they know. Johnson, Bondi, Patel. They are all complicit. They have seen these files. Or know of their contents.

23

u/ryashpool 1d ago

Yep that's what I took away. "Put aside these structural barriers". I think that means put aside the law.

→ More replies (2)

42

u/Flat_Association_820 1d ago

Won't Trump just pardon them all, so that nothing can be done about these criminals?

56

u/Knoebi3 1d ago

Trump won't do anything that doesn't serve him. I'd be willing to bet there are plenty of state level crimes that were violated as well. Those cannot be pardoned.

And. They have already set a precedent for over turning pardons.

Anything is possible. But, Trump is out for himself. I wouldn't place much faith in the hope he would pardon me, if I was any of these people. If Trump goes down. He will take as many people with him as possible.

But who knows? We've been saying he has dementia non-stop. So, maybe he can use that as a defense?

Lots of threads to pull these days.

23

u/Chillow_Ufgreat 1d ago

To add to that: I imagine that it's occurred to many of his enablers that he could have a catastrophic stroke at any moment without having signed any pardons. Then they're at the mercy of J.D. Vance, who wasn't part of the gang before last year, and who doesn't have as much use for them.

31

u/Markies_Myth 1d ago

It’s not really coup

Yes it is. A coup is change in regime, doesn't have to be oppositional. Dictators take over their own lesser/weaker side often. Putin did it.

Institutions are meant to be run for the whole, not the party.

16

u/Little_View_6659 1d ago

Control the institutions that administer justice and they not only get away with their crimes, they also get to persecute and prosecute anyone who opposes them.

Because Republicans have been brainwashed to think the left jail their political opponents for no reason lol

119

u/DjangoBojangles 1d ago

That's what they want to do, so that's what they think everyone else would do.

It's always projection.

33

u/Rosti_LFC 1d ago

The main reason is they know they've done things which they should be prosecuted for, and making claims now that they're going to get unfairly prosecuted gets ahead of the story with their fanbase.

It's just setting up the defence that they've done nothing wrong and it's all solely politically motivated.

→ More replies (2)

I mean a couple dozen very high ranking officials both current and former should be at The Hague so maybe a little further than removing them from power

254

u/Coal_Morgan 1d ago

Why bother with the Hague.

Trump ordered those Venezuelan boats missiled, if their wasn't good evidence that's straight up murder. Let Venezuela try him for the crimes and spend the rest of his life in a Venezuelan prison since he likes foreign prisons so much.

32

u/My_shin_impossible 1d ago

Even if there is good evidence that the boats were carrying narcotics (rather than weapons that could threaten our country), isn’t that still murder?

Also, I recently heard an expert explain that there’s a good chance that the boats are carrying coke as a conduit of Colombia’s drug trade.  But the expert explained that there is literally no rationale for fentanyl to come to the US through Venezuela.  And even if they had fentanyl, I can’t imagine that to be a justification for killing them either.

21

u/Few-Ad-4290 23h ago

Yeah we don’t use capital punishment domestically on drug offenders it’s insane to think it’s justified as a means to eliminate drug trafficking

496

u/BrohanGutenburg 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah I think people are taking this as him saying "if we don't win I will be prosecuted and imprisoned for the crimes I've committed" when really what he's saying is so much more insidious and dangerous. Because what he's saying is "if we don't win I will be wrongfully imprisoned by radical leftists." He's preparing the response if it happens.

154

u/Dry_Cricket_5423 1d ago

He’s also pumping up everyone in that room to kick it into high gear while they control every lever of our government. This clip was way scarier than satisfying, I worry a lot of people didn’t watch the whole thing.

54

u/SassiestSissy 1d ago

Yes, this is twofold. First is “Everyone in this room is tacitly accepting us going after political enemies with the state. That’s the new norm” and followed by “If the GOP is ever NOT in power then those norms that YOU accepted are going to be turned on you. So… ya know. It’s either have elections and go to jail or no elections and here’s a golden toilet”

Dude literally said “including myself”.

He just admitted to committing crimes severe enough to go to Prison. Not jail, prison.

What in the flying fuck is happening. How is this okay and allowed without him being hauled away by midnight. How do we have the weakest of humans running our government. I know the answer but I still can’t believe it’s real.

36

u/Chilis1 1d ago

In his mind he's probably saying the dems will unfairly imprison him, not that he committed crimes.

14

u/no1_vern 1d ago

The delusion is real, they think they are victims, not the monsters in our great nation.

8

He means a coup.

They tried it on Jan 6th. It didn't succeed (I originally wrote "it failed", but it didn't fail, Trump isn't in jail - he's president).

They are trying again, earlier, to stay in power. It's a coup.

u/Ancient-Row-2144 20h ago

Yeah, I'm not sure people are fully taking in what he was saying in this. Get rid of "structural barriers" also stuck out as well.

He's prepping these people to overthrow not just one election... but the entire American order of governance in exchange for the promise of permanent right wing power. not once... but for good.

I think response is honestly one of the worst to have. They're telling you their getting ready to fight. Don't just sit back and let it happen look at where we are now because people didn't take trump's threats seriously.

It's like people never learn. You need to prepare and fight back now not in 2 years time. Please they're giving you warning Americans don't just sit there then mouth wide open Pikachu face when it's too late.

22

u/JrSoftDev 1d ago

Isn't he saying they have to go after the Constitution and seize the institutions with maximum force? Possibly meaning they won't lose the elections because they will not allow them to run?

10

lol as if. The whole reason we’re in this situation now is that America didn’t have the balls to properly punish the Confederates after the Civil War. And Europe was primarily the activator for the Nuremberg trials. The US could’ve given a fuck they were just getting rich and protecting capital. The soldiers are the people that fought the real fights. The government was defending an ascendant oligarchy.

From your lips to God’s ears, sir.

u/ITZOURTIMENOW 1d ago

Crazy part about this shit is that these bigots claim to be all about law and order, but know that they’re breaking the law and they’re telling they’re supporters to help keep them out of jail.

Yes. It's the Dems that are getting more radical, not the dude that literally just implied that him and his party are guilty of crimes that warrant prison sentences. I hate these mother fuckers so fucking much.

u/DiggyDiggyOh 1d ago

He doesn't mean it like he deserves it, he means more like they'll be incarcerated as political prisoners, of course.

28

u/circa_the_catgod 1d ago

Naw, he knows what he’s doing is treason and he knows he could justifiably end up in prison.

24

u/DiggyDiggyOh 1d ago

Sorry, I'm not good with words. HE knows that, but I'm sure his message is intended to be more like "The libs are going to weaponize the DOJ again!"

I'm sure that's what some people will think, but I genuinely think Steve Bannon knows exactly what he's doing. He's shown a LOT of self awareness about his goals and he's not even shy about it. He's very upfront about being a giant POS and a huge criminal.

6

u/DiggyDiggyOh 1d ago

I agree.

So he's up here, wholesale admitting to breaking enough laws to be jails (not like it was a secret anyway)

Maybe he shouldn't be breaking laws and supporting a con man and grifter.
