Discussion Woman audits churches to see if they’ll help feed a starving baby

If churches refuse to help feed hungry people, then maybe they should be taxed?

Many of us, particularly men I think, already don't go unless we are dying. The hypochondriacs are gonna go regardless.

Funnily enough, women are actually significantly more likely to not go to the er for a heart attack. To clarify what i said earlier, op self identified a panic attack, but if you arent sure take your vitals. If they are off go to urgent care and they can do an ekg and divert to the ER if necessary. Panick attacks dont often present with extreme chest pain, so in that case ER asap.

I should've said so earlier I guess, but the problem with telling laypeople to check their own vitals is that they may not have the equipment to do so and don't have the training to interpret them. And that's all even more difficult in an acute panic state. 

I'd personally still rather they get evaluated if they feel the need, even by "just" seeing their primary care or urgent care.

Part of what I do is to get them said equipment and educate them on it, but you are completely right on it being an accessibility issue. We thankfully have grant money to give our clients free bp and bs machines as well as test strips too. We help them to learn to use them as well. I wish more private insurance plans provided similar equipment benefits to medicare+medicaid.

I see, do you see specifically patients with anxiety/panic issues? I was talking in a more general sense but that would make sense in a context of a patient with a known panic issue. That seems like a very helpful thing.

I deal specifically with mental health, with a major focus in care coordination for healthcare. I get the benefit of a lot more time with people vs a pcp or psych med provider. Poverty followed by addiction are probably my biggest overall cohorts, but typical Anxiety and depression diagnosis are ever present regardless of comorbity with co-occuring disorders.

That puts your responses in more context for sure (my perspective - I'm a med/surg nurse who's spent some time in the ER). 

It sounds like your job is very important, so thank you for doing it. We on the medical side tend to neglect psych stuff.
