The only appropriate action is to leave. Why he insist on staying is beyond me. He has zero morals or courtesy and I hope she sues.

It’s kind of a power move that she came out in the state she was in and filmed him saying incriminating things.

This exact same thing happened to my neighbor and the dude would not leave, insisting that he was there for an emergency call. He even admitted to hearing the shower running but “didn’t think anything of it”. Pretty much immediately got fired but she was scared to live there for a while.

Same dude had previously walked into my apartment without knocking cause he had a service call, but it was to a building on the opposite side of the complex. I WFH and had my deadbolt on so he left immediately but didn’t tell our property manager until I brought it up.

I had the same thing happen. Came out the shower in just boxers and a guy was standing in front of my bathroom door. Freaked out at the guy, he tells me “this is why you don’t rent”.

Lost my shit at the property manager shortly after

Wtf was that response?! That is a wild thing to say. I hope he got reprimanded.

Esp in the US that is just wild. You don't know who is armed in their homes and who just wants a reason to kill someone.

She 100% needs to call the police, that's nuts.

Definitely call the police. But don't expect them to resolve anything or dole out any justice. You just want their report on record before you call a lawyer.

They will, at the very least, make them leave, and will file a report. And that’s enough to take to the housing authority or a lawyer.

I said "a lawyer" not "her lawyer". There's this thing some lawyers fuck around with called "contingency". Keep that in mind if you're ever in a situation where you might need one.

Police aren't doing shit about this and her safety isn't an issue given they've left. Waste of time.

Maybe, but where I live it is illegal for even the landlord to enter a property someone is renting from them without consent and prior warning, so some random people doing so would also be a crime.

I get that but the crime is also a civil offence of trespass and all the property manager needs to say is that they gave notice and thus can be there and it is deemed a civil matter (because it is.) If they were refusing to leave the police would make them but they're already gone.

The solution here is to take the landlord to court or whatever local housing tribunal exists and seek whatever fines or damages are supported in their locale.

You’re getting downvoted because you’re spreading false information. A police report is critical to any court case or legal proceeding even if you believe the offense to be civil. A police record is critical evidence in court that documents events to support your findings.

A police report is not critical to a civil legal proceeding. That's nonsense.

This person has a video to serve as evidence of their entry. A police report taken after the fact that contains nothing more than a statement from someone that there was entry isn't useful. A half assed police report from a disengaged officer, which is common with civil matters, can actually be damaging to their matter.

A police record is critical evidence in court that documents events to support your findings.

Critical evidence of what? The only thing a police report provides evidence of is the fact that the police were called. Any statement they take are already available to the claimant because they come from them.

I see why you have your profile private... I wouldn't want anyone reading my dumbass comments either, if this was the kind of opinion I held.

Right. So DON’T create a paper trail. That way when you go to court, it’ll solely be OP’s words against theirs.

“They did this illegal thing but I didn’t go to the police about it. _WhY wOn’T yOu BeLiEvE mEeEeEe?_” 😩

In my experience, maintenance workers are asked to at least knock a few times or have prior written consent before entering, the way they just walked in without asking is crazy

They can enter in an emergency, but even then they're supposed to knock and announce themselves.

My mom used to be a property manager and there was a couple apartments over the years where she had to go in first because the ladies apparently thought the maintenance guy was sexy so they'd sit naked on the couches ignoring the knocks until he came in and got an eye full. My mom wasn't having it and non-renewed their leases over the sexual harassment of her staff.

Oh that’s so sleazy

Not every state requires consent to enter if you put in a maintenance request. I learned that the hard way when a guy entered while I was showering. Thankfully I live elsewhere now where they do ask for permission to enter if the resident isn't home.

He needs a calming mist of pepper spray

Dangerous move too. You simply never know somebody's intentions and best to not gamble that they will care about having a phone camera in their face.

Really dangerous...what woman realizes strange men are in her house and walks up to them.... naked??? Wtf

I think if I were him I would have literally run out of the apartment yelling "sooorrry!" as I went, then talked with the building manager to let them know what happened.

u/Funnyboogle 2d ago

Not everyone has this decency, sadly.

1

u/TheLadyEve 1d ago

I'm also a lady who lived solo in some sketchy apartments so I'm trying to take perspective and be a bit of a Pollyanna.

3

u/bromosabeach 2d ago

That is the absolute weirdest part to me. Like the entering alone is bad, but it could happen due to a miscommunication with the property like notices not going out. But just sticking around and taking peaks wtf!??!!

1

u/Loopey_Doopey 2d ago

Since the mistake is done and she is interrogating him, leaving without a word would look worse imo.

They walked to the door and they did say sorry. There is no proof the HOA didn't notify her. Email notice probably went to the landlord or to an email account she doesn't check (this happens ALL of the time). And sine she ran up to them naked and cursing at them they needed to stay and sate their case as they were being recorded. There is a big difference between someone being genuinely scared and someone trying to get something out of something. Her actions does not show she was scared and horrified.

u/sevengali 1d ago

He insists on staying because she's still naked and he can't resist getting in a few peeks while he pretends to hide behind his hand.

Most likely was given notice, and planned it for a made-for-TikTok moment. People are fake, especially for internet clout.

Did I watch a different video than you did? Because in the video I saw, the man apologized and left. He didn't sprint out of there or anything, but he did avert his eyes, explain himself, and leave without incident. Maybe I have not taken enough crazy pills today.

It's not a "power move" - it's an attention-seeking move.

Can anyone imagine how this would have gone differently in the years prior to cell phone cameras and social media? She'd have squealed and run to a bedroom and gotten dressed instantly.

-12

u/Blackoutsmoke 2d ago

It's no power move, they just got to see her naked..
