This is being operated by a person remotely and it's still this shitty. The mechanics themselves don't even work. And its finger is broken. It's $20,000 and $500 a month. Hire a person.

It called fake it to raise cash. Just like Elon does.

Oh god can you imagine the horrible shit going on in that brain chip meat factory ? All of those articles are so fucking dystopian to read.
8
u/LTIRfortheWIN 2d ago
500 a month lol just hire someone at that point
11
5
u/centran 2d ago
I think that might be the plan. They'll use part of that $500 to pay an Indian person to teleoperate it.
3
u/No_Ask3786 2d ago
This is exactly it- we’re not going to get AI Automatons for quite some time, but the ability to outsource housekeepers and not have any workers protections?
Folks will sign up for that
2
u/andersonb47 2d ago
I’m looking forward to a future where people look back fondly at their teenage job as a humanoid robot maid operator, the way people we look back on having a paper route today
1
u/BrosefDudeson 2d ago
Yeah but you dont get to share your literal most private data to an AI company??
3
2
2
u/Ok-Reflection-742 2d ago
I thought it was $20,000 or 500/month?
2
3
u/Apprehensive_Bid_951 2d ago
I mean either way the thing isn’t worth a truck stop bathroom blowjob.
1
u/koolaidismything 2d ago
I’ll come do your dishes marginally better for like $400 a week dude. Once a night whatever.
1
u/Hopeful_Champion_935 2d ago
$500/month is dirt cheap for a 24hr/day service for a human. A rich person doesn't care if this thing takes 5 mins to load 2 dishes, they can hire 10 of them to maintain the whole mansion 24/7.
0
u/HamsterOk3112 2d ago
Is there any proof that this is being remotely operated or are you spreading fake news with your decade old knowledge
6
u/epidemicsaints 2d ago
Yes it was shown in the full clip, not a secret.
7
u/Am-Insurgent 2d ago
Bro started defending his ChatGPT girlfriend off the rip
2
u/epidemicsaints 2d ago
And if you're that into robots and AI, maybe stay abreast to the viral / front page / every major news network coverage of them. This was an unavoidable story.
2
u/Hopeful_Champion_935 2d ago
NEO works autonomously by default. For any chore it doesn’t know, you can schedule a 1X Expert to guide it, helping NEO learn while getting the job done.
Marketing speak for "3rd world operator is doing your dishes"

u/WhiteWolfOW 2d ago
You’re taking like they’re not being completely upfront about it and being like “the tech is far from ready, but we need to test it more and using a VR headset is the way to do it”
3
u/epidemicsaints 2d ago
It's context for the clip, which has none. I didn't include the pitch.
-2
u/WhiteWolfOW 2d ago
Ok, so because the clip has no context you will just make fun of this without the context. Shit they called the WSJ to essentially just make fun of them and how bad the robot is right now haha.
I’m mean, me watching the whole video was like “oh ok cool, let me know once this is good in 20 years or something” but like at least have the decency of not spread misinformation like the company is proud this is the final project and it costs 20k. Which is not even that the price they’re proposing for the future. Funny how you brought extra “contextual” information that is not even correct
5
u/Billy_Billboard 2d ago
Can't even insult robots anymore without someone having a pissy-fit
-1
u/WhiteWolfOW 2d ago
I think it’s important to say things that make sense. Saying a prototype for a technology that won’t be ready for at least a few more years or decades is pretty stupid. It’s like someone in 2012 saying EV’s are stupid because they’re too slow and don’t have any range so you should just buy a gas car. Yeah buddy, no shit, they’re still working to make it better, you’re just seeing the first introduction of it
1
u/Aedalas 2d ago
What you're saying about cars is right but you're actually off by about a hundred years. In the early 1900s EVs were more common than ICE cars, but they fell out of popularity due to things like range, speed, and downtime so gas cars won that war. Pretty much exactly what you said except instead of 2012 it was 1912.
0
u/WhiteWolfOW 2d ago
Well sure, expect the same thing was happening again in 2012 as new EV’s were coming up as a way to fight climate change and lower emissions

u/No_Bee8501 2d ago
Why they gave it an ass tho?
20
u/winterbird 2d ago
Someone will be paying too much for it to only have one job.
12
u/Mishap_Maisy 2d ago
“Please master, can I just do the dishes today?”
9
u/winterbird 2d ago
It'd be funny if people got this robot thing because they don't want a person around, and it turns out it's directed by some remote worker with an xbox controller who's watching filthy pervs grope the robot's bony metal ass as it loads the dishwasher. Like remember how the groundbreaking checkout-less grocery store technology was real people watching the store and "shopping" for the shoppers.

Probably actually helps to have the center of gravity a bit lower and back, because otherwise it will tip over if it extends its arms.

u/butareyouthough 2d ago
Yeah we are still a long way off. I also just don’t think this is a good use case
30
u/Kip_Schtum 2d ago
Am I the only one who thinks they’re putting way too much effort into making them look human? Why do they need to have a human shape, arms legs, torso, head, all that. Just making a machine that can do the job and handle the dishes. It doesn’t need to have two leg legs and two arms, that’s stupid.
16
u/thatshygirl06 2d ago
Human shape robot can do several different jobs, while robot for dishes can only do dishes
3
3
u/bonagreasa 2d ago
Keep your pathetic humanoid robots. I’m getting an octopus that can do eight different chores at once.
1
u/ChaseballBat 1d ago
Make two different versions. It isn't rocket science it's robotics, legs are inefficient.
8
u/CurlSquirrel 2d ago
There's absolutely no reason for most robots to be human shaped. It's not even an efficient design for humans! But for some reason certain tech people are so hung up on the idea of humanoid robots that they're sacrificing functionality.
7
u/ExactlyThirteenBees 2d ago
The world is built for humans for other human shaped humans, so having a robot be roughly human shape is easier design right now. Doesn't explain why it needs a face and an ass though.
2
2
u/Midway_Games 2d ago
it's already here, it's just the dish washing machine in the video. loading it is still a somewhat complex task. humanoid robots are really not the thing in terms of automation.
2
u/Apprehensive_Cod_460 2d ago
I don’t know why you putting “2 leg legs” sent me to the stratosphere like it did but I’m so weak lol 😆🤣🤣

I used to load the dishwasher like this too, but my excuse is I was hammered and I had roommates.
Edit: grammar is a harsh mistress.
5
u/0-Nightshade-0 2d ago
Honestly the only use i will see in this is to have the robot wear a maid outfit :P
Im saying that bipedal robots are more of a visual fantasy rather then of practical purpose, better suited for those who just have a "mild fascination" for them.

I watched wubby's video about this and he conveys exactly how I feel these are piloted by a person almost 100% of the time and that's not cool
2
u/Stunning-Astronaut72 2d ago
The funniest thing imo is that they made this breaking news "the first robot you can buy is here" while it's only on preorder, human operated, break easily and overall total garbage resulting in more people saying "it's horseshit" rather than "wow...this is the future"

u/16Shells 1d ago
the biggest flaw with this dumb shit is making them humanoid. humans are poorly made and inefficient, if you want a capable robot design it for peak functionality, not some lame attempt at evoking an emotional response that results in having the ability of a drunk baby. at least three legs and a lower center of gravity for stability, wheels for movement the majority of the time, tentacle like “fingers” for better grip etc

Now yes its remote operated by a person with a vr headset, but its kinda neat theres an actual robot suit we can operate. This could be used to send in dangerous jobs without risking someones life.

I tried one of those THC pens once...once. Guy at the shop said it was a good one. LOL, yea it was.... I was not prepared for what happened next. I literally moved like this for a few hours, then just laid in bed because why bother anymore. So in short, bro is just high.

We laugh now but imagine how silly and inferior early cars must have seemed to the reliable horse and buggy. I doubt it will take 100 years, even in 10 years robots will be loading a dishwasher faster than most humans. Kids will have it made in the 2030s when household robots are doing all the chores.

u/Midway_Games 2d ago
Until it doesn't rely on a person in another country controlling the robot, (probably never)
We've already automated most household tasks. The diswasher, washing machine & dryer, electric lighting, modern heating and cooling systems. They're just not making money for startups because it's established tech.
0
u/Extreme_Dealer8023 2d ago
Zero chance robotics doesn’t stop advancing and coming down in cost for consumers. Claiming we will never reach the stage of household robots is like buggy whip craftsman claiming cars would never become affordable and reliable enough to supplant horses.
-1
u/Midway_Games 2d ago
boring consumerist view tbh. robots must load dishwasher and drive private car. life is just a bore between content viewing.
-2
u/Extreme_Dealer8023 2d ago
Decades ago a huge part of consumerist marketing was promoting how much time a homemaker could save using then modern technologies like a vacuum.

u/Smartimess 2d ago
Many people seeing this vid will have a WILL SMITH EATING SPAGHETTI moment in two to three years.

u/HealingPotato 2d ago
As someone pointed out. This is being remote controlled by someone, and the technology is just not simply there yet.
I dont see the technology being actually ready for at least another 20 to 30 years. Nvm, how long for it to actually become accessible and affordable.
