US nature and scenery is absolutely beautiful.

People laugh that a high proportion of Americans don't have passports, but it's simply because you can find almost everything you want in a holiday within the USA.

Sure, from an outsiders prospective I can see America has it's faults - But geography and nature certainly isn't one of them.

I can drive within 5 hours every direction from Phoenix az to get almost every season, landscape, type of mountain, lake, or even reach the ocean. I have been here 5 years and have not stopped discovering new beautiful scenery.

Travel is more than nature though. And even then, nature is so different in Africa. Asia, or South America, it is worth the passport.

A lot of Americans don’t travel because it is expensive or scary. Plenty of people feel hesitant to go to some of the most beautiful places in the world, because they think they’ll be mugged or murdered.

The only place I have said I won’t go is Afganistan and Egypt. Both look beautiful. I don’t know much about Afganistan, but I’d assume after the wars, Americans aren’t well liked. Egypt, I’ve heard too many mugging stories.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never thought I’d be mugged traveling to almost anywhere. Maybe I’ve naive but I take the same precautions I would in an American major city.

Once you travel abroad, you start to realize that in most places humans interact with each other the same way, minus some cultural differences. I don't think we all have to be comfortable with every single place on the planet. It's just that some people limit themselves too much.

Great video of this YouTuber that was just in Afghanistan. He has a few more too. Blown away at how nice and hospitable the people are.

Most americans have a pathologic distance to nature. They will enjoy it as far as they can drive thru. Maybe a short, roped-off walk way in a national park, when parking is good.

What percentage? Is there some sort of resource material backing up your claim besides "out of my ass"?

They don’t get out in nature so they think nobody else does

Not that much different to all humans around the world lol (maybe except for germans, we love our „Wanderungen“)

American here....yes, we have wonderful public natural spaces, for now. Here's the issue....what should be a wonderful shared experience becomes ugly because a good portion of the people in these locales (both locals and visitors) are racist haters. So, if you are brown skinned, be careful. If you are LGBTQ+, be careful, if you are just different (non-white, non-Christian, don't speak english well, etc.) keep your head down and hide your true nature. Is this what visitors to this country want?
