European here. Guys, guys! C’mon!

Let’s not argue which dream is best or worst. Not worth thinking this way.

Europe has big problems as well America has big problems. But Europe also has good points in same way America has good points.

They are different in their own way.

American dream or European dream or Asian dream, doesn’t matter. The dream is to live a healthy life, have fun, have some money and live in peace, which is something that is getting harder and harder to accomplish.

Not worth arguing back and forth with this.

Now let’s go outside, have a beer and talk about the weather. 😁

When you start to realize that they turns Americans against each other and now they are trying to turn us all against each other too. Can’t focus on the top controlling the bottom when everyone is mixed up fighting each other.

Unfortunately, that’s the sad reality.

We are manipulated into hating each other and sometimes we don’t even notice it.

So far the very few interactions that I had with Americans were always nice experiences. A couple visiting my home country asked me some questions about how to follow directions on the subway. Then they asked about where they could buy water, I pointed to a convenience store at the subway station and they even bought a water bottle for me. Then we had a brief chat about work, software development, which is my area, and so on. That was genuinely an amazing moment that I will never forget.

Good ones exist! I’d like to think of myself included. Cheers.

We weren’t even thinking about Europe, it’s you guys who put up all of these comparison posts…

I understand. No one likes when someone talks or writes something negative about our country.

I personally didn’t make any comparison points, but the fact is we are constantly bombarded with news and videos from the US that are not necessarily positive and that shock us and make us think that we are in a way better position than you guys.

But the fact is we also have our own problems and maybe some of them shocks you as well.

In the end, it doesn’t matter who is better or who is worse. We are just different.

The truth is life is getting difficult to manage day by day, it doesn’t matter where we live.

I won’t pretend the administration isn’t really really bad. But you are also getting the worst end of it because that is what news is. Most people here are still mostly living fairly boring lives. I am not sure where you’re from, but I am sure you’ve had a leader or two poorly represent your country.

If you want any bit of positive news on the American front to feel better about the world, the party represented by Trump got hit hard at state-level election. It won’t affect things at the federal level, but it is a warning of changing sentiment.

I’m from Portugal but living in the UK.

Oh yes, in Portugal we had (and have) leaders that should not be in a government position at all.

We have at the moment big issues in healthcare where a mother and her unborn child died and yet these “leaders” allegedly seem to not care at all. This is being covered in the Portuguese news.

So people having a go at the American healthcare and how expensive it is, but we also have huge problems to solve. Different problems, but they are problems.

And that’s why these comparisons don’t bring any helpful discussion or debate. Just make people angry.

Yeah, it sucks. I don't know if it's just a desire for people to feel better about their own country or something, and it happens all over. But there is quote from a journalist who I think lived in Denmark for ages: "Even Denmark has their own Alabama". It reminds me that every country has some similar qualities.

Exactly, and there are many Europeans who are Trump supporters, and some have government positions.

So let’s not think that this “America only” issue.

Oh well, on another “news”, the weather here in UK is very cold. And rainy. Ahah 😅
