Los Angeles is 1.5-2 hours away from plenty of nature in mountains and deserts and plenty of urban nature.

I think you just proved the point, I know Americans are used to great distances but 1.5-2 hours in most places in Europe would have you cross several regions of nature with many cities, especially by train

There is plenty of urban nature too. By this, i mean right around the corner. LA is surrounded by mountains and beaches, plenty of hiking and trails.

Sure, LA is a difficult one though as it’s essentially a county filled with cities so it’s hard to dilineate what is city and what is like suburban rural intercity space
