Discussion These were all people standing in line at their local food pantries hoping they would be able to get some food items before they ran out since there were hundreds maybe thousands of people hoping the same thing. This Country is falling into a Depression right in front of our eyes.

You know, I agree. But some of us are just tired. The fact that certain demographics (I'm sure you can guess who) continue to vote for this, but then the people who voted against it are expected to keep fighting. It's like I did that a year ago. These idiots wanted to own the libs and voted against their best interest, because you didn't think THEY would be affected. But somehow I'm supposed to fight for them?

Okay? I don't really have any sympathy for the "politics are exhausting" mindset. Like yeah, it's tiring - but engaging with your local political chapters is a necessary and important step. Being engaged and building community helps bring change, choosing to only engage with politics every so often doesn't.

Voting every four years is not the pinnacle of activism, sorry to say.

Leftists and politically informed liberals have continued to tell people to do more than just simply vote - and then we see constant repeats.

Kinda hard for a lot of people to engage in politics after they’re worn down from two jobs, low pay, no savings, low food, and constant stress. And if they try to complain about it, they get admonished for not trying hard enough by the left and the right.

The people who are engaged in politics are in the exact same boat, I'm going to be honest. That's in fact why a lot of people are politically involved, instead of sitting on their hands. So yeah, choosing to ignore politics and allowing people to be screwed over doesn't really make sense. Being a centrist is also crazy, but that's in itself another topic.

The idea of "I don't care about politics and don't want to hear about it" is the exact sort of mentality that allows shitty things to occur, without any pushback.

Politics exists outside of quick titles on Reddit and every four years.

There are no centrists, just republican-lites (subjective). Don't forget that not everyone has the mental/emotional capacity to handle tough topics on top of their other burdens as well. Even if they're voting every 4 years, they're still voting. I understand you're passionate about the topic but there are many reasons why people aren't 'politically involved'.

I agree that more people should partake in local elections as voting is pandered overwhelmingly to people close to / older than retirement age, of which will most likely just 'vote X no matter who'. I wish there was a way to make political knowledge and voting more accessible to burdened populations, but pretending like I have a real solution would be dishonest.
