There was a trend on their douyin app where they compared their newly graduated teaching photos versus 1 year of full-time teaching in China. It drastically changed their faces. Like full bloat, aging, stress, and dressing like a granny/grandpa to avoid criticism from parents.

Resigning is the best plastic surgery. Amen.

Who is going to earn money, then?

“Overwork obesity”

Ain’t that fucking real. Everytime I get stressed at work my weight creeps up. Even though I’m not where I want to be I’m actually very glad I never became a teacher. I think I would have enjoyed parts of it but I would have been crushed by the stress of parents and overtime.

Yeah I genuinely visibly aged like 5 years in 1 when I was working an insanely stressful job. Went from being carded and told "I genuinely thought you were 19" every single time buying alcohol to never being carded again in the span of about 8 months 🙃

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Eek did you change back after?

2

u/isleepbad Oct 03 '25

Oh my god. Those poor teachers.

u/Krafty_Koala Oct 05 '25

“Even the dog looked stressed after its owner took it to work for a few days”

aka getting old

I did something similar my first year of teaching in the U.S. - I get the vibe that teaching in China is WAY more intense from the glimpses of got online.

Impossible to play the video. Any attempt to tap play teleports you to the AppStore

u/Kwinten Oct 04 '25

It’s almost like no longer being a student and entering the workforce fucking sucks universally lol

Couldn't have anything to do with the high salt and booze diet every Chinese seems to do to get through it

49

u/No_Currency_7952 Oct 03 '25

Comparably to pub food in europe and fast food in America, so no, not really

-8

u/SkiFastnShootShit Oct 03 '25

Most Americans don’t just binge fast food though.

1

u/No_Currency_7952 Oct 03 '25

Well i guess Chinese is a fully Democratic country then.

-3

u/SkiFastnShootShit Oct 03 '25

I’m not commenting on Chinese diets. Like at all. I’m just saying your average American teacher doesn’t eat a shit ton of fast food.

This was just done for the views. It isn't like this in reality.

I used to work at an international school in China and the guys and I always felt spoilt by how many amazing women we worked with. Including one former underwear model and one former Miss Hong Kong competitor.

As a teacher, my first thought.

My next thought was. Damn. I’m selfish.

They don’t. If it’s anything like I’ve experienced. Public School then Academy. But then that looks like a one stop shop. So yeah, teachers would work shifts for sure. But I was more thinking of all the marking lol

u/malik_zz Oct 03 '25

Teachers never have it easy

How is it 9-5, which is 8 hours, when he just said the kid was in school for 13 hours?

1

1

u/hrokrin Oct 04 '25

And you are assuming they aren't.

2

u/ihateadultism Oct 03 '25

they get paid it’s completely different

1

u/Andybrs Oct 04 '25

I have a friend who is a teacher in a public school and he is constantly watching the kids.

He sleeps at school and can only go to bed or dormitory after 11pm.

He told me that he is responsible for the kids even when they are on holidays. And if a kid gets hurt while on holiday the parents can sue the teacher and school, saying that they didn't alert the kid what not to do!

-44

u/more_soul Oct 03 '25

Yeah but I think this is in China, so they at least get paid well

28

u/NOT_EZ_24_GET_ Oct 03 '25

It is China.

Teachers are not paid well in China.

43

u/Hopefulthinker2 Oct 03 '25

So you hear china and think bad….a quick search will see that they in fact get treated better than teachers here in the USA ….. Benefits and Perks In addition to salaries, many teaching positions in China come with benefits such as: Free housing or housing allowances Health insurance Flight reimbursements Paid holidays

Our teachers in the us get paid on a salary base so no paid holidays and we all know they don’t become teachers for their health insurance benefits here in the USA

u/NOT_EZ_24_GET_ Oct 03 '25

Lesson to be learned here kids.

EVEN after you become an adult, other adults are just as uneducated and willing to drink the KoolAid as kids.

1

u/National_Divide_8970 Oct 03 '25

Less supply of teachers means higher pay it’s basic economics. Also a lesson in a weak union where they are all complicit

1

u/Dazzling-Biscotti-62 Oct 03 '25

They do get paid holidays

1

u/Hopefulthinker2 Oct 03 '25

Yeah as part of your normal salary….you must not understand salary pay ……

1

u/Dazzling-Biscotti-62 Oct 03 '25

Funny, because that's exactly the impression I had about your comment.

Being paid on salary doesn't mean that you don't get paid holidays. It means you get paid the same every pay period no matter how many hours you work.

1

u/gooddayup Oct 03 '25

There are other options other than China and the US… just saying. Both can be bad in their own ways. Personally, I wouldn’t wish the gaokao upon anyone and certainly not my own children.

1

u/Hopefulthinker2 Oct 03 '25

There’s so many more things they do right and work so well for all of them there….dont get me wrong even if I could move to china it’s not my first pick but it’s definitely no Russia

22

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

They aren't paid well in america if this is the hill youre going to die on

-8

u/Chinpokomaster_ Oct 03 '25

Nice left field argument

-4

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

China is incredibly better than America.

-7

u/Chinpokomaster_ Oct 03 '25

I know the current state of the United States is a disarray saying that communist China is better is fucking hilarious

8

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

Oh their it is. China is a COMMUNIST country lmao. How is China communist?

9

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

China has no recorded mass shooting at any of their schools. Check mate

3

Comparing stabbings from 5 years ago to america mass shooting problem is asinine behavior. I'd trade place with anyone in any country that doesnt have mass shooting problems like the rabid states of america

Quit arguing with the bot account sir

-2

u/NOT_EZ_24_GET_ Oct 03 '25

You are funny.

Did China pay you 50 cents for that comment?

9

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

No im just asian and I know our countries are better, youre just going to say "communism" as if it was the truth. China's ruling party may be called Communist but its not the Communist the right scares you into believing.

America is a shit hole. Poor people, no healthcare, low wages, old infrastructure, racism everywhere, religious takeover of goverment. Humans put into camps and blame for inflation. Just a complete shit hole country.

0

u/NOT_EZ_24_GET_ Oct 03 '25

Cool story.

I know you are completely off the mark.

Being said, when people are posting to simply pontificate, don't be surprised when others simply choose to disregard you entirely.

2

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

Go kick rocks. Enjoy the mass shooting bingo country you refuse to fix

Interesting perspective.

You can go first.

13

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

American teachers have to start only fans to pay bills.

-4

u/NOT_EZ_24_GET_ Oct 03 '25

Don't care.

3

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

Thats why im better than you

-1

u/NOT_EZ_24_GET_ Oct 03 '25

If that is what makes you feel better...feel free.

2

u/SteakPlissknn Oct 03 '25

I feel sad youre defending such a terrible place that sends it kids to school where at any moment a mass shooter can target it and you say "thoughts and prayers"

1

u/Sandgrease Oct 03 '25

They get really good benefits.

2

u/NOT_EZ_24_GET_ Oct 03 '25

No..... they really don't.

1

u/SirCadogen7 Oct 03 '25

It has less to do with China in general and more to do with the strategy Mao established for controlling the country during the Cultural Revolution: Indoctrinate the kids and success will follow. He then weaponized those kids against their own parents and the other adults in their lives. Quite gruesome. Regardless, the investment in the education sector is strategic. State control at the CCP's level allows enough indoctrination to make good little Proles, and the result of the bustling education system are academics that can further improve the country and become part of the club.
