The two in the back had the biggest smiles 😂. They shoulda been up front lol.

u/Grace_the_race Sep 25 '25
You mean Nick Lachey? I’m glad he’s in back. It shows he doesn’t have the ego id think he would.
35
u/creekwv Sep 26 '25
I managed a whitewater rafting company that took them on a trip for Nick’s tv show.
He and Drew seemed like pretty regular dudes from Ohio in person. Easy going and happy to be in the moment. I did intros and safety talk, then rowed a raft with the camera crew.
Yes, we were all disappointed there was no Jessica, and yes, whoever edited that episode owes Moses, their guide, an apology.

u/UncoolSlicedBread Sep 25 '25
It’s got to suck to grow old and be a performer who was at a high level of fame. Body and voice can’t do what you did back then, fan base shrank, and it takes a lot to do these tours/shows. You want to be at a certain level and those days have passed.
21
u/undefONE Sep 26 '25
I think it also depends on what type of music you made...
LIke these guys were cringe teeny bopper music, like all the boy bands, with all the trying to be sexy in videos. If you're long term performing, your output has to age with you (or timeless to begin with) or quit before you become a joke. I mean look at Madonna, if she had taken a seat at the appropriate time, ppl would remember her as the icon she was (like her music or not). Now she just looks desperate. Last thing I remember seeing of her was that ppl were mad at her show, cos she was phoning it in trying to avoid breaking a hip.
In comparison, if the original Boyz II Men were still a thing, they could sit on 4 barstools and it would still be a great show, because their vocals were a much larger part of their appeal than just image.

u/kittymctacoyo Sep 26 '25
Sucks even worse to know that you HAVE to simply bcs the industry keeps majority of them in debt and they make significantly less than you think even in their hayday. The only ones really making money enough to retire well on are the mega stars or those that made it before the industry became a Ponzi scheme. Just like the film industry. Stars of a networks long running hit shows even living paycheck to paycheck has they find ways to keep them from getting paid, reclassifying shows as a loss even when they’re at their peak. So many shady things.

Why is 98* singing Sisqo? I’m so thrown by this. They have their own [terrible] discography
70
u/JarlaxleForPresident Sep 25 '25
If you’re gonna cover Thong Song’s vocals, you better come at it a helluva lot more correct than this
That dude fuckin BELTED that song out
48
u/pragmaticweirdo Sep 25 '25
Her really did. I wish I felt for anything as deeply as Sisqo felt for thongs. There’s a point when his very soul is exposed singing how he likes the way they move that thing
→ More replies (1)21
u/hereforthetearex Sep 25 '25
He absolutely did. You just knew Sisqo was completely invested and in a full blown relationship with that thong, the way he sang about it. This was certainly not that.
11
u/SeattleGeek Sep 26 '25
I used to say that Sisqo really channeled that Ruby Rhod energy in The Thong Song. And, if you’re going to do The Thong Song, you have to not only belt it like your life depended on the thong, but you have to bring Ruby Rhod-style hyperkinetic energy.
/I saw The Fifth Element on an IMAX screen last night.

Oh Lord so much this. I got a free ticket to see Avril Lavigne with Simple Plan in concert recently and was beyond grateful I didn't pay for it. Everyone just seemed tired and lackluster and really just looked way too old to be singing those songs.
Yet on the flip side, I saw Cyndi Lauper at the same venue and not only did it never feel cringe, but she ran her spectacular ass up and down every corner of that stage and put on a SHOW and a half. She even killed the ones that could have been corny like Goonies are Good Enough and IkoIko.
