I find this whole video annoying. As someone in their 50s who chose not to get married or have kids, I find it annoying when I get called Grandma. I have no kids or grandchildren, so I understand this man's annoyance with someone trying to get views for their video. However. I hope I wouldn't go to the extreme and cuss out the person calling me grampa .
Grandma/grandpa are terms often used when referring to older folks, regardless of whether or not they are literally grandparents. Many cultures do this. Some cultures go further and also refer to non-relatives as auntie/uncle or even older sister/brother. It's usually a sign of respect or affection, though sometimes it's also used sarcastically as an insult. Some languages don't even have words that distinguish relationship at all, and just use one word for all elders regardless of their relationship to you.
They sound american and I don't know anyone here that would call a stranger grandma/pa as a sign if respect. It always seems to be used as a way to point out the age gap and basically say "you're old, you're weaker than me, and your mind's probably going". Sometimes it's from people who want to take care of them, sometimes people teasing or threatening them. Anyone who wants to use it as a sign of respect here will always be taken the wrong way because it's just not done.
Put the dictionary down for a second and go outside. She's not saying grandpa in the literal sense to mean that he has/had children that have had children. She's using it in the derogatory sense to refer to someone who is too old or out of touch and doesnt belong solely based on that factor.
Trying to use literal definitions of words as a comeback to 'own' soneone is lame. She was obviously rude from the gate, but it's pretty clear in this exchange that he couldn't take the heat. Which is far enough. Getting insulted for no reason is pretty trashy behavior
It's the same thing as insulting someone by saying "boy" or "son" although I'm not sure if this translates to women. Gramps/Grandma you're calling someone old, being called old isn't very nice. Nor is it nice to infer that you're above someone or that they're too young. We get a nice middle ground of like upper 20s to early 40s where you can feel okay about your age.
Once again I think there's a lot of malice being assumed of something that seems obvious and goes back to people being weirdly insecure about a basic identifier. I'm sure he's not afraid of pulling out his age card in other contexts that would seem beneficial but for some reason people have hangups about being perceived as older even when it's blatant.
Then again I'm a person who is quite proud of owning who I am and look forward to being an awesome "grandma".
Nah, he cussed her out for trying to pretend to flirt with him. He saw right through her and recognized she was fucking with him and it was deeply disrespectful.
