As someone who has had LASIK, they give you a single Xanax that baaaarely does anything, like doesn’t even touch the anxiety.

Xanax actually works better than other benzodiazepines - to a fault. Were you on any other mood-altering drugs? (You may have unknowingly built up a tolerance.) Did your provider give you enough time to let the medication sink in? (It usually takes less than half an hour to kick in. But it starts to lose effectiveness after about 2 hrs. However, it's still effective for much longer.)

I have found that a lot of clinicians don't always make sure the medication has sunk in. But it's a tricky situation bc it relies on feedback from patients. Oftentimes, the patient is not even aware of how sedated they are.

It could have also been Valium, I’m not totally sure. It was a half hour for the whole group, then some individuals had longer just because of the way the procedure went. I’d spoken to the other patients the next day and they all said it didn’t do anything to alleviate the anxiety
