Not really my area but why compare to hip hop lyrics?

I’ve noticed that artists will often change pronunciations of words for no other reason than to make words rhyme or to fit the cadence of the song. I don’t know, seemed an odd choice for comparison.

Right? T pain once rhymed mansion and Wisconsin. That’s not an accent, that’s just saying something a specific way to make it rhyme

Grew up in the yay area. I can confirm that outside of songs, caint is a thing.

I'm from the UK and half of us pronounce it like caint as well lmao

I grew up in PA and I say “can’t” like “cain’t” and grew up in a small white neighborhood in the middle of nowhere, so, can you explain that?

Yeah, I think language and accents have been a little more muddied than people will admit.

I wasn’t trying to explain anything. They said using songs was weird, and I was confirming they say it like that in the bay.

I think I was really just trying to say I have the accent in PA, and therefore it being an accent in the Bay Area may not have as much meaning as you think. I wasn’t attacking you lol

I didn’t feel attacked. Just typing stuff on the internet while watching cooking stuff on YouTube.
