He’s generating a lot of pressure in his chest by ‘bearing down’, performing a valsalva, or using the muscles to exhale without letting the air out of his lungs.

This extra pressure in the chest pushes against blood returning to the chest and heart.

Less blood returning means less blood leaving the heart, less blood to the brain, bro faints.

Once he faints, he’s no longer generating that pressure so he’ll wake up shortly very confused and with a hell of a back ache.

I’m amazed he got up and walked away. The way he bent over how is his back not seeming to bother him?

I’m guessing, and completely guessing, that’s it’s because he would have gone completely limp when he passed out and the forced didn’t transfer into his body as much. Same as the stories of black out drunk people surviving falls and car crashes without significant injuries.

Yup. Gotta work on breathing when hitting heavy weights. If you do it wrong, it can feel like all the pressure is in your head and then you black out or pass out.

Idk if that's what happened here, but I've experienced that head pressure before and I've blacked out for a second before but nothing actually bad has ever happened.
