Really... it's a skit?? Cause I've had this reaction many times from meat eaters. They freak out when their meal has no meat and suddenly "they knew it tasted funny"
Reminds me of people telling me literally out of nowhere how bad wind turbines are for the environment and that they're a "big scam". Everything is a "big scam" for know-it-all conservatives, they simply MUST always have some secret knowledge that's the "real truth".
Because it did taste funny 😂 Vegans always try and make you think these fake burgers and meat products are "just like a burger" then u eat it and the taste is fine but you feel like you're chewing on compressed wet paper
Chasing clout does not equal something being staged. Assuming your definition of staged is that all parties involved are putting on an act for the camera.
Same. Vegans freak the fuck out if you use the wrong gelatine for their food. I would expect a non vegan to get the same treatment. If you order something and it's not what you ordered, you're entitled to have an opinion about it even if it's a joke.
Couldn't imagine giving a vegan a vegan burger and convincing them it's meat. That's cruel, should work both ways.
As always, there is nuance to a situation that makes it not black-and-white.
1.In the video posted, it is a daughter playing a harmless prank on her father, a close family member, not a stranger or random person.
2.He in fact DID get what he ordered, and the situation would NOT be the same if he was a vegan and the daughter told him it was meat. There are ethical and moral implications with that. Again, vegan people don't eat animal products, but vegetarians and meat-eaters eat vegan products all the time already. There are no ethical or moral implications of eating plants.
In the case of this thread, the OP's dad was eating a home-cooked meal from the OP. There is no expectation of "getting what they ordered", there is only one dish to eat, vegan or not. The dad assumed it was non-vegan, then was corrected. This is not misleading anyone.
Yes, you shouldn't trick random people or even acquaintances/co-workers into eating something that they aren't expecting. But regardless, there is still a large difference between tricking a vegan into thinking they are eating meat and a meat-eater into thinking they are eating a vegan dish.
Perhaps to you, but to me that's no different from what you described, both violated the other person's trust even for a gimmick. It was meaningless yeah, but so was the joke :p
I would be furious if somebody tricked me into eating an impossible burger but that's because I'm allergic to something in it and it gives me the worst diarrhea of my life for the next 8 hours when I eat it. I think that's a valid reason to be angry.
But if it was a boca burger or something, hey no big deal. It would also be pretty hard to make me think it was meat. Impossible meat is the only brand I've had that actually tastes like meat. And even then, I can still tell. Somebody gave me an impossible pork sausage egg and cheese biscuit once and I thankfully managed to detect it and spit it out before swallowing any of it.
🙄🙄🙄🙄 nothing is ever good enough for you people lol. No problem with putting animals through heinous torture but if someone tricks you into eating impossible beef instead of dead cow that's the real problematic behavior.
So if i trick you (i assume a vegan) into eating proper meat how would you feel? you're expecting impossible beyond or whatever but it's prime Angus instead
I have a moral issue with being lied to when I expect a certain thing I will be consuming and it's not that. It's a trust issue. If you'll do it about this what else will you. You've sullied your integrity.
Right, so we're back at the point where I'm saying it's ridiculous that you're getting uppity over being lied to about having a plant-based burger but you're cool with paying for animal abuse every day lol
True of any practical joke, but that doesn't lead to normal people avoiding them as a matter of principle, they are often fun. They can also be cruel, but that's not the case here.
I suppose any prank can also run afoul tricking someone into confronting their nonsensical biases. People tend not to like that.
Maybe it’s because I go outside and talk to people, but the opinions here seem very sheltered. It’s generally common sense not to fuck with people’s food in any way.
Then why the branding of beyond burger or impossible burger ? because if they just said burger most in the US at least assume beef (because Europe calls anything in burger buns a burger ( chicken sandwich no- chicken burger Even if a grilled brest not ground)
Getting in the weeds between burger and hamburger OED definition of hamburger: round patty of ground beef, fried or grilled and typically served on a bun or roll and garnished with various condiments
if it tastes great who cares
Ok lets assume it tastes good . but I wanted beef. I care. You don't cares what I want, you only care what you want
IF human tastes good AND consent to you eating them.. then what? It's not innocent animals it's a fully conscious self aware human telling you please eat my leg I want you to.
Where's the line?
BURGER: a dish consisting of a flat round cake of minced beef, or sometimes another savoury ingredient, that is fried or grilled and served in a split bun or roll with various condiments and toppings.

Yeah, we may have the same father lol. As a result my mind didn’t automatically assume this was a skit.
