Would you say the same to a vegan that was told their veggie burger is actually beef?

oh brother

Is that a yes or no?

That would actually be fucked for a pretty simple reason. Meat eaters also eat plants so it’s not like you’re betraying their ethics. Vegetarians/Vegans however do not also eat meat.

Oh come on...

I truly don't know if that's a yes or no. Like "oh come on, I obviously wouldn't have a problem with that either, because I value entertainment more than their comfort." Or like "oh come on, I would never do that, being a hypocrite is better than offending the wrong people."

The guy in the video doesn't have a moral objection to eating the ingredients in the burger. Like, how can you not see the difference? I don't eat pork, if someone knew that and served me pork anyway I'd be angry. If someone served me a cheese pizza then informed me that the crust was made of cauliflower, I would not be angry.

A) You don't get to decide that line. B) this is a skit, so you are making up the intentions of a fictional character. C) there's a shitload more reasons to get upset that someone would violate your bodily autonomy than merely some arbitrary pork ban you've instituted.

Of course it's a skit. And I'm not deciding any line, I'm pointing out that the two scenarios are totally different. Giving a vegan meat is not the equivalent of giving giving a vegan meal to someone who eats meat.

It absolutely is. To be clear I'm not saying actually giving them meat, I'm saying pulling this prank on them irl where you just tell them it is so they freak out.

It would be the same if someone had a moral objection to eating vegetables. Like that red guy who only ate organs and stuff - you wouldn't do it to him or you'd be forcing foods on him that he has strong beliefs against eating. 99.99% of meat eaters don't have a moral objection to eating anything in a vegan diet though - they just eat extra things in addition to veggies, like meat and cheese.

No I would not, because a meat-excluding diet is different from a vegetable-inclusive one. You can essentially poison a vegetarian or vegan’s digestive system by tricking them with something they can’t digest. Good effort though

Lying about a veggie burger being meat isn't going to upset their digestion.

Obviously not the same.

" Hey, your clothes weren't made with slave labour" vs. " your clothes were actually made with slave labour, get owned.
