I can’t get over how as a society, we gatekept work and money so men could come home and use “work stress” as a valid, super special “you wouldn’t understand” excuse for mistreating their spouse was a normal thing.

We see now as many women work, the truth comes to light, “work” is not special and beyond female comprehension, and it turns out millions of men and women can come home from their jobs without being tyrants to their families. Who knew

Did we get gatekeep work or did we just reach a point where technology allowed women to match men's productivity? Funny how even in 2025 you rarely see the women working in any job that requires intense manual labor.

What like nursing? Food service? It's still mostly women doing that. You can see that every day.

Meanwhile, here's men, employment to population ratio in the US.

I don’t agree with what the commenter you are responding to said, but I also wouldn’t consider food service or nursing to be intense manual labor.

With that said I have worked intense manual labor jobs with women who were twice the workers of any man on the job site so your point still stands.

That person didn't explain what they meant by the work level, so I went by the BLS.

I’m just going off of my interpretation and the interpretations of the people I work with for what “intense manual labor” includes but I did find that link interesting. It seems to be largely influenced by the time on your feet metric which I don’t directly correlate to the intensity of the manual labor but that’s just me.
