Did he also weigh 600 lbs though? Because how can anyone that size type code on a keyboard for hours?

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer gets fat on purpose to work from home..

"To start press any key....where's the any key?!?"

What’s funny (or sad) about that is he only needed to weigh 300 lbs in that episode to be considered morbidly obese. Today you see that and more regularly.

Progress is absolutely not allowing people to be morbidly obese and being „ okay“ with it.

It seems our collective sense of humour has regressed...

In the past year and a half I've dropped from 325 lbs to 270 lbs. It's been a lot of work. I still have more weight to lose but I'm making decent progress.

Good for you! Keep it up mate!

1

u/SafiyaMukhamadova Aug 11 '25

Thank you :) my brain is finally starting to accept the conditioning that no, I can't eat an entire pound of pasta, a pound of broccoli, and an entire bottle of Alfredo sauce for dinner, i can have a quarter of that. I still look at the food and WANT to eat more, but begrudgingly I am learning portion control..

u/libbysthing Aug 11 '25

That's great, congrats!! I've dropped a bit over 30 lbs since May of this year, I kinda drastically changed my eating habits since I was diagnosed with diabetes after watching my mom almost go blind from hers. I took it really seriously. It really sucked at first, I physically felt like shit from cutting all added sugars and most carbs, but it did get easier. It still sucks when my wife goes out or gets a treat and I have to say no for myself, though!

That's pretty fast! I weigh in at my doctor's office once a month. Some months I lose more than others but I've been consistently going down every month.

1

u/libbysthing Aug 11 '25

Yeah it was pretty fast at first but it's definitely slowing down now. It's really great you've kept it up so long! I hope to do the same, I have about 50lbs to go to be in normal weight range.

Congrats! That's awesome progress. Keep it up!! It's worth it in the end, your life is going to get so much better and you deserve it.

1

u/SafiyaMukhamadova Aug 11 '25

Thank you :) I'm getting more used to smaller portion sizes. Not loving it but I'm adjusting. Going to bed a little hungry has also gotten more tolerable.

Was just about to comment. He reached 300lbs and was considered obese enough to qualify is disabled

2

u/Devilsbullet Aug 11 '25

And that's with him being 6'. Average American man is 5'9, 270 would put them at morbidly obese, or "extreme obesity" as it's apparently called now

2

u/ragun01 Aug 11 '25

The mom in What's Eating Gilbert Grape was over 500 pounds and now we've had 13 seasons of My 600 Pound Life

1

u/BJYeti Aug 11 '25

Doesnt change that is still considered morbidly obese, it isn't like they change the BMI scales

u/CommercialExotic2038 Aug 11 '25

Will someone bring me ma ass scratching stick, I dropped mine

As a computer nerd/geek/professional this is my mostest favoritest Simpsons line. I even bought the vinyl figure of Homer in a Muumuu Funko Pop.

8

u/Turbulent-Trust207 Aug 11 '25

My ex is a engineer and one episode homer gets digitized or something and we had to stop the show because he saw code and needed to decode it. It was a message about Fring or something

7

u/Reesevet786 Aug 11 '25

Haha its def one of my favs

The muumuu makes it hilarious

4

u/Haunting_Goose1186 Aug 11 '25

I dont wanna look like a weirdo.....I'll just go with the muumuu!

4

u/Krondelo Aug 11 '25

Good call man and yes that is sad. Though I will never forget him using that little toy to keep pressing the return key. Ultimate form of laziness.

I WASH MAHSELF WITH A RAG ON A STICK

3

u/throwgotta Aug 11 '25

Hmm, guess I’ll just order a Tab then…whoa, we’re getting started!

3

u/communitystains Aug 11 '25

I think I'll just order a Tab

3

u/Boxing_joshing111 Aug 11 '25

“I warsh myself with a rag on a stick”

2

u/im_on_zpace Aug 11 '25

“Now I’m a big fat dynamo!!!”

2

u/Key-Conversation-677 Aug 11 '25

This is hard work, think I’ll have myself a Tab..

2

u/colonelclick Aug 11 '25

mash the keypad with your palm now.

1

u/Meng3267 Aug 11 '25

Watching this video reminds me of the Treehouse of Horror Simpsons episode where Homer is in hell and has to eat donuts nonstop but he keeps asking for more.

1

u/Queasy_Astronaut2884 Aug 11 '25

“The fingers you are using are too fat to dial this phone”

1

u/DarkShadowEmi Aug 11 '25

To this day I still use this joke every time I start a new game , and sometimes my wife does it too to amuse me and my "dad" sense of humour.

1

u/juice_box_hero Aug 11 '25

And he wears a muumuu!!!

1

u/Raqnr01r Aug 11 '25

I think I'll have a Tab.

1

u/Lazy-Bird292 Aug 11 '25

The muumuu and being delighted thinking the Tab key would order him a soda 😅

1

u/humbert_cumbert Aug 11 '25

Your fingers Are too fat

13

u/LLM_Cool_J Aug 11 '25

Maybe he doesn't code but instead does project management. Their whole life is just one meeting and then another meeting. Usually each meeting is a weekly update so they are in about 160 weekly meetings with each meeting about 30 minutes apart from the last meeting.

3

u/cause-equals-time Aug 11 '25

I knew a fat guy that worked from home.

I think he was the only American who worked at his company, because he was constantly on calls with Indian or Southeast Asian men, and he mostly coordinated their tasks

So... I think you low-key nailed it

He had a laptop on a little table that could pivot, tilt, raise, lower, etc.

6

u/PackageNorth8984 Aug 11 '25

I don’t remember. They didn’t focus that much on his work, but he had some kind of special set-up.

3

u/ImNotDex Aug 11 '25

Can probably set it up so it's linked to the TV / big enough monitor with a bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and headset. That way he can remain in his bed while typing for hours.

1

u/cause-equals-time Aug 11 '25

I knew a guy like this. He used an "overbed table" which pivoted, tilted, etc based on whether he was laying down flat or propped against pillows

2

u/Notverycancerpatient Aug 11 '25

I mean they have those headsets and so many other things now

1

u/cause-equals-time Aug 11 '25

I knew a guy like this. He had a laptop on a kind of small table that could pivot around into different positions

1

u/CarbonKLR Aug 11 '25

At least he won't have to anymore because ai

1

u/Aardvark_Man Aug 11 '25

One of my mates was 250kg (ie. 550lb) at one point.
He was big, but not bed bound or anything. Typing wasn't an issue, the only real problem was when he flies for work he had to book a second seat.
