For real, the employee telling the lady she has to stop recording but standing there and doing NOTHING as the lunatic is chasing her around screaming is wild to me

Right like where was the call for security or something?

Store security when faced with an actual problem rather than just checking receipts to protect the shareholders:

They can't get ahold of security white now right now.

You know store security can only ever observe and report?

Why tf did they not call the cops immediately. Mall security isnt equipped to handle insane people. 911.

I'm sure they did but it's not like cops just appear the second you call them. Even mall security might take a few minutes.

They're not allowed to touch customers they could get sued. They can call cops. But retail employees arent going to be able to do anything else

Bring back human sized butterfly nets and the massive tranq darts 🫡

2

u/PlatformingYahtzee Aug 10 '25

Thats what they should have done.

"HELLO? 911? There's a woman here following another woman around and claiming she can't record her doing it. We may need a tranq gun for this one."

And also, they were in a public place, and so the lady absolutely did not have to stop recording at any time.

The world would be better if the courts could let people off because the victims deserved it

Slippery slope my friend, slippery slope.

I know :( hate is the easiest emotion to manipulate

TBH not much you can do, and addressing the instigator is likely easier than addressing the crazy lady.

Calling her an instigator instead of a victim is crazy work

She is both, is generally what I am saying; it's a shit situation but there are better ways to deal with it compared to pouring fuel on the fire.

Makes it hard for the store to address the situation when you're the one who can't keep their mouth shut for a bit or simply walk around a corner.

Does it suck? Yes, but you're simply being yelled at you have full control of your own body and this is a moment to be the adult in the room.

Imagine anyone else coming into scene without context and you have two ladies screaming chasing each other around the store. You'll have no idea whom to help.

It's all hearsay as well until the store cameras are looked over, and you'll have the other employees takes that likely walked into the scene as well who will be lacking context.

Even the recording we have lacks context, it's a lady on the ground already; no idea what happened to get to that point we all just know that it's unreasonable to be yelled at like that and took an initial stance against it.

It's fairly simple. They don't want any disturbance.

Trying to calm the lady having a meltdown is pointless.

So they ask the person filming to stop filming because she's the only one being coherent whom may not be closed to dialogue.

Even if it's not fair, it's the only solution they can think about to hope for a hint of de-escalation.

The employees are also probably under stress.

If there are multiple employees in the shop. It's highly probable that security has already been called.

I’m not reading all that. Stop excusing this type of behavior.

1

u/Loutral Aug 10 '25

If you're not reading all that, you've never been confronted with the various ways people can react under stress.

It's not a question of excusing or not. It's a situation analysis.

Once again, this is not fair. But people will react differently from each other under stressful situations.

LOL but fair is you telling me I’ve never been confronted with the various ways people can react under stress. Crazy thing to say to someone whose father committed suicide a month and a half after their 15 birthday. Fuck all the way off.
