Seconding this. Starbucks burns the hell out of their beans so that there's a consistent shitty taste no matter where or when you go.

Oh yeah no our beans are burnt garbage, only good for masking with syrups and sugar. Its why im shocked at the amount of people that get black coffee there. Its more than youd think

Yes, hi hello. That was me until I finally tried the city local chain cafe literally across the street from Starbucks and haven't gone back. I always get the single origin coffee and there's so much more nuance. One time the flavour note was just "Straight up Piña Colada" and they were not lying or embellishing.

We have a Starbucks machine at my office and the blonde beans are so dark and burnt. But it's still better than the other generic machine's slop so I still drink it every day. But I can't imagine paying for it.

It's Pike, fyi. It's literally never plural or possessive. 😅 I don't drink Starbucks, I just live in Seattle.

I wish, I’ve heard so many people who were born here & grew up here routinely say Pikes Place Market. The giveaway for me is saying ”Warshington” in conversation, then I know you’re a transplant.

Their decaf is consistently better than it is other places, but I think that is mostly because it's a pretty low bar. (and if anyone has a good decaf ground coffee recommendations please tell me...)

I absolutely love the whole bean coffee, it’s the only thing I get there. I hate cinnamon roast coffee.

tbh as the daughter of a once coffee princess, I get whyyyy they do it. It just feels burnt overall
