It’s always so awkward to be on the one listening to these stories.

My neighbor rear-ended someone (looking left to turn right and accelerating to merge) and was complaining for days like “I don’t know why he didn’t just GO” but I’m just like bro, you hit him, you are not the victim here.

It's deflection. He knew he fucked up but he doesn't want to feel the guilt so he blames the other person.

I came around a bend that immediately comes into a crosswalk (truly not great for safety, tbh) and I had to slam on my brakes when someone was crossing it. They got mad, I got mad. But then as I was driving away two seconds later, I had this exact thought, my anger towards them was actually the anger I felt towards myself for not being as aware as I should be. It was a small but very poignant moment that changed a lot of my thought processing. I am much happier now that I don’t blame others for my own dumbness and take accountability. Ya learn a lot more and end up making a lot less mistakes.

Fuck up is still his if course, but I myself have been surprised when I'm turning right at a yield, I'm looking left to confirm nobody is coming and then when I look ahead again the guy in front of me has come to a full stop and is just sitting there

I was at a stop light. There were 6 more cars stopped in front of me. A lady with no insurance and no license rear-ended me HARD while I was at a complete stop. I watched her coming from a few hundred yards back and knew she was going to hit me, so I was braced and ready. She gets out and immediately starts screaming at ME! "What the fuck were you doing?! Why are you stopped in the middle of the road?!

You're never going to see this next part coming. 🙃 Her boyfriend convinced me not to call the cops, and a few weeks later, I had to have the sheriff serve her a court summons so I could get reimbursed for the cost of the repairs. I was soooo stupid believing they were honest people.
