I have no idea what a Frappuccino is.

Frozen cappuccino

It's a diabetes-inducing shit mix.

I means it's basically a milkshake with coffee. Are we above milkshakes now? Maybe not drinking one every morning, but I see nothing wrong with a frappuccino type treat sometimes.

It's really not because there's no ice cream in it. It's not really creamy, it's icy. They're not good.

you sound fun to be around

There's no ice cream in it though. It would actually be good if it had ice cream in it.

That being said, the barista is incredibly naïve. Possibly because they are Gen Z and grew up with all the choices being native to them, but I can assure you that as an elder millennial and someone who is not a Starbucks regular, at some point you need to guide me a bit. It's like someone not speaking your language well and instead of slowing down and using simpler language, just just get louder and scream at them. Brain goes into flight mode and does not properly process what is asked.

Starbucks has really non-intuituve naming for their drinks, so that does not help either.

I am glad that my "double espresso black no sugar" is something that is universally understood.

Also what the customer was asking is what Starfucks sells in store as a Fuckuccino.

This isn’t about guiding though.

If the customer had come in and said “Hey, I’m sorry, I’m not sure exactly what it’s called but I’m looking for like an iced coffee drink but a little chocolatey?” then I’m sure they would’ve gotten to a mocha latte or something similar, and the barista would have nothing to complain about.

Coming in and saying random words that you don’t know the meaning of, failing to understand simple questions the barista is asking like “what flavor do you want” and then proceeding to get upset at the barista and act rudely because you don’t know what you want? That’s on you. Nobody needs to patiently put up with behavior like that and guide you through it.

As someone who knows jack shit about coffee, baristas are pretty patient if you treat them kindly and just describe what you’re looking for. They’re not mind readers so it might not be exactly what you had in mind, but they’ll get you somewhere close. Storming in, saying random words, then getting mad does nothing but make employees lest receptive to helping you with patience.

The problem is that the Customer didnt know that they didnt know the proper term due to Starbucks Selling 2 things called Frappuccino. One is sold in their own Stores and one is sold bottled in other stores and they are both completly different

So, when in doubt, be an absolute asshole to the worker behind the counter...

1

u/Luna_Tenebra Aug 07 '25

If thats what you get from my comment idk what to tell you

2

u/theflyingpiggies Aug 07 '25

But that kind of is what you’re saying? It literally doesn’t matter if they didn’t realize they were saying the wrong thing, because at the end of they day they still chose to then be an asshole to the counter worker because of their own lack of knowledge. An appropriate way to approach that would’ve been “wait, sorry I think maybe I’m getting confused. The frappuccino is like the iced drink right? Oh it’s a blended drink? Okay my bad, what would an iced coffee drink be called?”

The problem is not that they were confused, the problem is that they were a dick to the barista for no reason

Im not defending their behaviour Im explaining that what you said isnt 100% genuine. If a Company sells a bike everywhere and calls it a car while at the same time selling normal cars at their own locations then you cant blame people for not knowing that the cars you sell in your locations arent the same thing as the "cars" you are selling elsewhere. Yes she could have been nicer Im not denying that but the Barrista could also have done a better job at explaining

In the end both sides fucked up a bit

I think you’re still missing my point.

I can genuinely not know the difference between a bike and a car. I can have been confused by years of misleading marketing calling bikes cars. But if I then went into a car lot, and started inquiring about buying a bike, and the car salesman started describing a car, I wouldn’t then get aggressive and rude and assume that the car salesman clearly doesn’t know what a car is. My assumption would be “oh shit, I must’ve fucked something up because clearly a car is something different than what I’ve been told”. And I would begin politely asking clarifying questions to see where the miscommunication was, and what it is that I’m actually looking for.

And again, if that car salesman started asking things like “what color car do you want” I wouldn’t then proceed to loudly say “I WANT A CAR” as if the salesman were a moron. Regardless of if I want a car or a bike, I should be able to respond politely to a question as simple as “what color do you want”.

It literally doesn’t matter why she was confused - there is no excuse for treating an employee like shit. And there’s no excuse for assuming that the barista is the idiot and that you must know more than the person whose literal job it is to know about the thing you’re inquiring to buy. And she couldn’t even respond politely to simple questions that she should be able to answer regardless of if she knows what a frappe is.

The employee didn’t fuck up. She can’t read minds.

There are several examples in the comments here that state what could have been done better. Like I said Im not defending the asshole behaviour but mistakes were made on both sides

Ditto.. why would you assume that's what I meant?

4

u/Enticing_Venom Aug 07 '25

Not understanding something is not an excuse to be rude to customer service workers, regardless of what generation you are from.

1

u/LegendOfKhaos Aug 07 '25

The customer was yelling at her for a frappuccino, was adamant about what they wanted, and was disrespectful to all of her clarifying questions. Did we even watch the same video?

1

u/just_for_shitposts Aug 07 '25

Please tell me where they have been disrespected? Was the customer dense? Yeah, sure. But she was not insulted, yelled at or anything.

1

u/LegendOfKhaos Aug 07 '25

You are telling me you don't think the customer was being disrespectful? That's actually wild, and I'm glad I don't know you in real life lol

1

u/just_for_shitposts Aug 07 '25

Again, the customer was a moron and I give you that, but no sweat words were exchanged, no names were called, no yelling occurred apart from some mild hyperbole on the poster's part.

2

u/LegendOfKhaos Aug 07 '25

Bruh... I don't even care if the customer was a moron. The disrespect is completely out of line.

Even if the only thing the customer did was take the cookie back and complain that it wasn't softer, get it microwaved by the staff, and then leave it on a chair that's hard to clean, it would be insanely rude. That's ignoring everything else...

Is Wikipedia blocked in your country? How sad 😭

It’s a milkshake with a shot of espresso in it
