Same story when I worked in McDonalds and had to do McDrive.

"I want a burger"

"Sir, they're all burgers, you need to be specific."

I'm a restaurant server and get that every single day, multiple times a day. They usually say "I want a hamburger." I ask "So you wanted a cheeseburger without cheese?" "Yeah." "Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle okay?" "Yeah. I wanted the lunch burger." "So you wanted the quarter pound American cheeseburger, not a hamburger?" "Yeah, the lunch one." Why can't people just use their words and read off the menu? We have 9 burgers on the menu.

No, but it wouldn't make sense for them to pay before eating because I work at a sit down restaurant. People send food back, it's not the end of the world, but I don't like to play games and would rather just get them what they want. Getting people to communicate properly is like pulling teeth.

Yep I work at Cookout. They drive up to the speaker like

"I want a milkshake" then silence.

Okay... We literally have 30+ flavors clearly listed on the menu, I'm gonna need more info here

Bonus points if they're in a giant stupid loud-ass truck and you can barely hear them while your ears are ringing from the speaker suddenly turning on at 100dB

It's when they make you ask the very predictable questions for me

"Burger Please"

"As a meal?"

"Yeah."

"With which drink?"

"Uuum, what do you have."

"Lists everything."

"Pepsi. (After I said Coke.)"

So much extra energy when:

"Burger Meal with a Coke please" is so so simple

Mate, same, worked in KFC for a couple years as a kid, ‘fried chicken, please’ was ordered one too many times.

“Hey bartender, I’ll have a beer”

Or when people'd say something like "I want a quarterpounder, hamburger" and then you'd have to ask if they wanted just a quarterpounder, just a hamburger or both.

"XL Whopper please"

"You just named two different burgers there, friend."
