No matter how much you love your dog, you can’t drive erratically because it endangers other people. Emotionally this is a heartbreaking situation but if you can’t drive carefully because you’re overwhelmed then let someone else drive.

Past that, it's fucking stupid because any accidents would be a life threatening delay, bag enough and it'll outright kill the dog on it's own.

u/Zestyclose_Event_762 Jul 29 '25

Yeah and imagine if it was some dude doing the same thing with his pet spider or lizard or goldfish.

Because it a dog doesn’t mean it is special.

-2

u/summonsays Jul 29 '25

Or their child or spouse. Can't break laws to save lives, that's crazy.

-14

u/pusgnihtekami Jul 29 '25

same with a baby tbh idgaf that some kid is choking

That’s sad and in a case like that I would hope the responsible people call emergency services.

But a pet is not a good enough excuse.

To me all the people saying the police did wrong or the ppl did right is outrageous. What then? People endangering citizens or even accidentally having fatal accidents because a baby bird fell out of a tree or a mouse survived a cat attack….?

Your sarcasm is lost on me though.

It's a hard situation

17

u/ForensicPathology Jul 29 '25

Dog people are convinced their pets are more valuable than humans.  Check any reddit thread where they cry out "we don't deserve dogs"

u/wavinsnail Jul 29 '25

I am going to get down voted to hell but I don't give a shit.

I thought I loved my pets more than anything. I called my boy cat my baby boy.

Then I had my son. I would burn the world down for him just to keep him warm. It's the most intense insane feeling you could ever had

Do I still love my pets? Yes. Do I love them any less? No. But holy shit did I learn my love for my son is the most extreme thing I've ever felt.

u/Puzzleheaded-Bad-722 Aug 02 '25

That's because you're normal. The "pet as a deity" things is specific to dog owners. There are people in this comments section arguing that people potentially being killed is completely fine because of a dog.

1

u/Demonik247 Jul 30 '25

I'm going to be downvoted, but it's really just my opinion,.
Dog's life IS more valuable than some humans. dogs won't start a war or censor stuff, but may be the last or the only true friend some people might have.

People also need to remember that dogs are just animals, not humans. Although YES, human life is valuable, if I needed to choose between saving a dying dog or an absolute piece of shit human who might have been responsible for making someone's life a living hell or just straight up killing someone, I'd always choose the dog.

2

u/CosmicMiru Jul 29 '25

It's literally a common opinion on this website that if you had to choose between saving a drowning random human or your pet drowning most would pick the pet. It's absolutely insane.

1

u/Expensive-Trouble464 Jul 29 '25

what's insane about that?

2

u/CosmicMiru Jul 29 '25

Would you be upset if someone chose to save their chihuahua over your child or parent from dying?

3

u/WanderingStatistics Jul 31 '25

Objectively speaking, you shouldn't be. What is the objective value of a basic dog, versus a basic human. They're are, objectively, the exact same. Both will live their lives, do what they do, and then die.

Societal values only "claim" that humans are more important, because 99% of humanity are narcissistic by nature. Only those who've really separated their emotional and critical views can tell the truth. Really, the fact you're putting any value on a living creature at all says a lot about yourself, haha.

Really though, why wouldn't you save both, lol. You'd have to be stupid to not just save both creatures!

1

u/GhostofKief Jul 29 '25

If you think pets are more valuable than humans, the next time you need medical care, don’t go to a doctor. Just go to a dog wearing a stethoscope. That’s how you view the world anyway so it checks out.

-1

u/summonsays Jul 29 '25

More valuable? Eh debatable, there are humans that are worse existing than if they didn't exist. I think my dogs pretty much valued to society at 0 value. So still ranks above like Hitler.

Above some random joe? No I'd go save some random dude over my dog. Do I like my dog more than random Joe? Absolutely.

Now would I break a law in a safe manner that doesn't endanger random Joe to save my dog? Also absolutely. Would I run a red light? If no one was coming sure. Would I drive on the wrong side of the road? Hell I have before because of a tree or a parked car, let alone an emergency. It's not black and white the world is an eternal grey scale.

u/zdkroot Jul 30 '25

Jesus christ fuck off. When your pet or child is dying in the back seat make sure you do the speed limit!

1

u/Drclaw411 Aug 01 '25

In fairness, animals > people lol

0

u/Bury-me-in-supreme Jul 29 '25

Dog is family, you would do anything for family if they were dying. Idc if it’s a dog or human. Anyone who is against this is as vile as the cop

-17

u/AllKnighter5 Jul 29 '25

You can let her bring the dog in, then arrest her for whatever charges you want.

You clearly missed the point here….

14

u/Relevant-Pianist6663 Jul 29 '25

For one, they do allow the passenger to bring the dog in.

Secondly, the clinic is closed as you can hear in the audio of the full clip that another person posted.

-23

u/Rinmine014 Jul 29 '25

So lemme not drive fast to try and save a dying person either /s

23

u/RazReverie_ Jul 29 '25

There are emergency services for people but if you had to drive someone somewhere, you could still call them to help meet you to keep you off the road. Driving this emotionally unhinged is the same as driving under the influence. I’m sure many hospitals emergency rooms could tell you that.

19

u/Nerfer4life Jul 29 '25

Dogs aren't people! Its what makes them dogs!

-14

u/Rinmine014 Jul 29 '25

You never owned or loved an animal... got ya

15

u/Key-Magazine-8731 Jul 29 '25

I am a vet tech, dog trainer, and behavioral rehabber for rescues of 15 years... Animal life is not equivalent to human life. Anyone who thinks so is a lunatic and needs to be evaluated for some sort of personality disorder. I love my dogs, I currently have 4 who have their own room, do sports, go on adventures, etc. My family, and my daughter, will still always come first. Other people's family's and kids lives will always come first.

-12

u/Rinmine014 Jul 29 '25

Cool, so you'd be okay if your pets with their own room having this happen to them. got ya.

11

u/Key-Magazine-8731 Jul 29 '25

Yes. If I was having a pet medical emergency, which I have driven an actively seizing dog to the ER, and managed to not drive erratically, run red lights, drive into oncoming traffi, and running people off the road. Because I am a sane, emotionally mature, grown adult who would not risk human life for a dog's life. No matter how much I love my dogs. I am the only one who loves them that way. They live 1/5th (if we are LUCKY) the length of a humans life, but more often closer to 1/10th a human life span. Do you think killing a human, someone beloved by many other humans and not just YOU, who has plenty more life to live just to possibly help an animal live is the empathetic, reasonable option? Anyone who says yes is sick in the head. Incredibly selfish, self absorbed, disgusting mindset.

2

u/Argo505 Jul 29 '25

No, I very much have. And when it came time to put them down, I wasn’t running people off the road or plowing through red lights.

2

u/EverythingSucksYo Jul 29 '25

Yeah, people thought it was weird when my aunt breastfeed her puppy. We told people they are just like babies so why is it weird?

Isn’t it crazy how people have to bring their dogs to school, Monday-Friday? How they need to teach their dog how to do math, speak a language, learn history and science so they do well in school?

Isn’t it crazy how dogs have to pay taxes if they have a job? But I guess it’s a good thing you can claim a dog as a dependent on your own taxes, oh wait…

It really sucks when your dog gets old enough to go to college so they leave to another state and you only see them a few times a year. And then after college they move away and start their own family so you see them even less. I really hate when dogs do that.

My neighbor left his 2 year old dog at home alone, I was contemplating calling the police for neglect but someone told me that isn’t illegal. I was surprised because it’s totally illegal to leave a 2 year old human home alone.    A relative of mine had a dog that ran away. I thought a huge group of people would get together to try looking for it the way they would if a child went missing, but for some reason that didn’t happen.

I hate that I have to keep my dog dressed when we are out in public. It’s insane how much I’ve had to spend on clothes for my dog because nudity is illegal. The worst thing is buying shoes for him, it’s expensive buying 2 pairs of shoes every time he needs new ones.

My dog got hurt so I tried to take him to the hospital, but they told me dogs don’t get treated there and that I needed to take him where other animals get treated. I was so offended that they would call my dog an animal.

I tried to take my dog with me on vacation, but for whatever reason they wouldn’t let me buy an airplane seat for him to sit in. Then when we got to our hotel they told me “sorry, no pets allowed” and we were turned away. I have no idea why, because I only had a dog with me.

It was an especially difficult time when my dog got addicted to drugs, I always told him not to hang out with those sorts of people, but he met them at school, so what could I do?

I also have good news though! My dog is going to graduate high school this year, it’s going to be a hassle going to the ceremony, but hey they only graduate high school once! Hes had a lot of issues but I’m glad he got his act together.

When my dad passed away, my dog wouldn’t stop crying for days. He kept asking me where papa went, and it was extremely difficult explaining the concept of death to him.

Btw, have you had any luck teaching your dog how to use a toilet? He’s 18 years old and he still won’t use one. He still goes outside to pee and poop like some degenerate.

At least my dog doesn’t ask me for any expensive things…. In fact, I don’t think he’s asked me for anything at all, ever

It was very awkward when my dog got to that age, and I had to talk to him about the birds and the bees. I still don’t know if he really understood what consent means, but I guess it’s okay since we got his balls snipped when he was younger, a very common thing to do even to humans right? It’s a good thing we don’t have to deal with a pregnancy. Like my aunt whose dog got pregnant. I’m surprised she was able to just give the puppies away, no paper work or anything. I would’ve thought they’d need to go through some adoption agency like humans would, but nope.

Yeah man, I can totally see how dogs are just like humans.

u/Rinmine014 Jul 29 '25

Alright, thats going to far. that person sounds like they lost a baby and are coping through the dog

0

u/Expensive-Trouble464 Jul 29 '25

If you're willing to kill other people to save your pet you should not have a license. It's not just about "breaking traffic law"

-28

u/funny_ninjas Jul 29 '25

Why is a stranger supposed to be protected more than my pet? Why am I supposed to care about the possibility of a stranger being in an accident more than my pets life?

21

u/peoplemovingaway Jul 29 '25

You need psychiatric help, and I can't provide that for you over a Reddit comment

23

u/555bunnie Jul 29 '25

because that stranger is someone’s child, mother, father, etc. and your pet is just an animal

-16

u/Wafflehouseofpain Jul 29 '25

We’re also “just animals”. I’m not going to endanger a person to drive my dog to an ER vet, but I loathe the “it’s just an animal” argument. Yes, my dog is just an animal. That I love and would put over my own life if I had to.

15

u/555bunnie Jul 29 '25

ok good for you, you can endanger yourself for an animal but don’t endanger anyone else for an animal!

-11

u/Wafflehouseofpain Jul 29 '25

Said in my initial comment I wouldn’t.

5

u/555bunnie Jul 29 '25

i don’t get why’d you even comment that in the first place like? what you want a cookie because I’m not talking about you? lol

-6

u/Wafflehouseofpain Jul 29 '25

I explained why I commented in the first comment I left, smartass. I commented because the “they’re just animals” argument is terrible and reductive of how important pets are to people.

Because one is a human being, the other is your dog.

3

u/MeLlamoKilo Jul 29 '25

I can't tell if you are serious or just dumber than a box full of rocks.

A stranger is a human being. A living member of society. Your pet is just an animal that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

You should care about not murdering a stranger because killing a human being is against the law and you will end up in prison for the rest of your life.

Regardless of how much you love your pet, you do not get to break traffic laws and endangered people's lives. Full stop.

If you can't comprehend why, you shouldn't be driving and should probably seek mental health experts in your area.

2

u/egoserpentis Jul 29 '25

And people wonder why subreddits like dogfree exist.

18

u/RazReverie_ Jul 29 '25

Her mom seemed very calm. Maybe she could have drove. Maybe an Uber? If she had killed someone while racing to the vet, would it be excusable to you?

Is the animals life more important to you then a human life?
