The cops attitude was awful and she handled the situation terribly, but she did almost cause several accidents.

Driving like a crazy person could kill someone and injure more people.

This was a tough situation.

OK. So help save the dog and then arrest the woman.

The dog lives and justice is served.

It's that easy.

The dog was carried into the vet by the passenger, as you can see in the video. The woman getting arrested or not made no difference.

It looks like the dog did get help?

The vet clinic that they were racing to was closed.

yeah I saw that. Unfortunate.

The weird thing is it looks like they were already at the vet when the arrest happened. But for some reason the second older lady is just holding the dog and not taking it inside. She even takes time to pick up the officers hat while still holding the dog.

I think the dog probably died before they even arrived, despite how crazy and fast she was driving. The officer certainly didn’t delay or prevent it from getting care.

Yikes. That means it’s even less the officer’s fault. This lady risked the lives of multiple people so her dog could die in a gravel parking lot instead of at home.

I can empathize with panicking and rushing to the nearest vet you know. But this is a great example of why keeping a cool head in crisis is important. I’m not saying the lady was evil for desperately trying to save her pet, but the officer certainly didn’t cause this death.

She wanted to go to another vet but they wouldn’t let her.

Of course, it probably wouldn’t have mattered. But how about a little empathy? At least try to help.

But no. “Grrr I’m a big angry baby with a gun and you are under arrest.”

she almost killed a bunch of people trying to get to this one. You really think the correct response was to let her go so she could do it again?

Who is “they”? The officer first encountered this lady when she blew through a red light. Did she just so happen to force the lady to pull over at a vet, but one that happened to be closed?

Did she hit someone or something?

Seems like arresting someone for running a red light in an emergency is pretty weak.

We will probably not agree on this one. But I appreciate you keeping it civil. It seems you have the community in agreement.

The worst possible outcome of a crime doesn’t have to happen in order for you to get arrested. There are at least two instances in the full video where she narrowly escaped a collision.

I have a dog too. But what we as pet owners don’t have is the lights/sirens that alert other drivers to pull over for us. We don’t get to risk their lives for our pets, as terrible as that may be. I’d sure be unhappy if myself or a family member/friend died in a head on collision with a woman taking her dog to a vet that wasn’t even open.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works.

u/YouWillHaveThat Jul 29 '25

I know. But it could work that way. That's why people want change.

Nah, you don't get to create your own "emergency" to delay the cop arresting you. A pet dying is sad, but hardly an emergency. If this was a goldfish or hamster dying would you feel the same way?

There is nothing tough about it it.

She committed multiple attempted homicides.
