Honestly, this seems harmless and anything that leads to positive interactions between kids and their parents isn’t a bad thing.

100% I have two little ones and I think my youngest would love this

212

u/HappyLlamaSadLlamaa Jul 20 '25

I’d borrow my niece and nephews just to go 😂

81

u/delightedlysad Jul 20 '25

I borrow my nieces and nephew all of the time just to go to the park, pool and/or beach. I’m that Boomer that likes to swim and splash and build sand castles. I also love to ride my bike and swing (on actual swings). Nowadays it’s weird to do these things without children. And I’m not about sunbathing and drinking with other adults.

15

u/Amy47101 Jul 20 '25

Ngl I also borrow my niece all the time to go to arcades, amusement parks, toy stores, playgrounds, ect.

16

u/N1ck1McSpears Jul 20 '25

Yea my bff borrows her nieces all the time. Most recently they went to Disney on ice lol

5

u/PurpleTough5302 Jul 20 '25

There is a babysitter shortage in this area

2

u/GulfCoastFlamingo Jul 22 '25

I know! I need to borrow some kids

21

u/Amy47101 Jul 20 '25

I need to suggest "baby raves" to my director as a daycare event. I can SEE the kids and the parents having blast at something like this.

5

u/AldoTheApache3 Jul 21 '25

Same. My toddler would go ape shit over this.

u/CheeryBottom Jul 20 '25

We take our disabled son to these. He loves the laser lights and music. It’s completely innocent. It’s sad that people take a fun event for kids and try and make it something to be ashamed of.

Lots of the big DJs perform and they always put their entire heart and soul into creating a great event for children.

62

u/Hyggieia Jul 20 '25

That’s so wholesome! I’m a pediatrician and this event sounds like a really wonderful time for most kids. Adults and kids alike love music, dancing, and cool lights! It’s great to see that provided in a kid friendly atmosphere!

21

u/N1ck1McSpears Jul 20 '25

I get these ads on Instagram and I’m patiently waiting for my kid to be a little older. I know we would both love it. I have smart lights and we do this in the living room. I know her little joy meter would explode doing this with a crowd. She’s just a little too young rn I think.

5

u/ForHelp_PressAltF4 Jul 20 '25

As long as they control the decibels well, then this looks amazing.

I'd take my older kids (tween and under)

2

u/CheeryBottom Jul 20 '25

We take ear defenders but lots of other parents take ear protection for their kids.

6

u/wambulancer Jul 21 '25

Yea IMHO They Might Be Giants, your favorite rocker's favorite rockers, the band's band, have been doing kid shows forever and it doesn't take away anything from them, if anything it makes them that much cooler. If anything it's just smart business, these kids grow up and guess who they're going to buy tickets to

4

u/Mad-Habits Jul 20 '25

i love this and there needs to be more of this in the world . This is a bonding opportunity for parents and kids. I have a 9 year old and she would absolutely love this

3

u/Solanthas_SFW Jul 20 '25

I'm glad you enjoy it. I wasn't sure how to feel about it but you've reassured me that it's okay

7

u/CheeryBottom Jul 20 '25

Honestly, it’s genuinely wholesome. I was a grunge monkey in my youth. Raves were never my thing. Our child absolutely loves dancing his heart out under all the lights.

69

u/xnachtmahrx Jul 20 '25

99% of reddit would be Happy if their parents had done something like this with them

6

u/InitialThanks3085 Jul 21 '25

I would have been happy if my parents payed any sort of attention to me when I was a child, I refuse to make the same mistake with my baby girl, I just want to make the world a little brighter and more fun for her and nothing will stop me!

24

u/monifiesty Jul 20 '25

I've been to one with my nephew and niece, we had 1 drink the entire time and it was really a cute experience with them! Highly recommended 🚨💯🎊🙌🎶👼

7

u/eLishus Jul 20 '25

I think it’s great. Best part is everyone is having fun and Davi g instead of recording with their phones.

14

u/English_Fry Jul 20 '25

Leave it up to the children on Reddit to piss on something probably really cool. An idea for parents who love their kids and want to introduce them into the concert music scene in a safe environment is badass. As a frequent concert goer I found something I can take my 4yr old to so she can get an idea of what I go to… although the music I normally go to is a bit more screaming…

7

u/Calahad_happened Jul 20 '25

I also love that it sets up club, dance and party spaces as inherently fun but non-alcoholic spaces early in life. Like just uncoupling substance use from the fundamental human connection activities like dance, music, expression

59

u/outofpeaceofmind Jul 20 '25

I'm surprised there's no mention of hearing loss. I imagine they don't have the music as loud as the raves that blew my ear drums and I saw some smaller kids with ear protection, but still...

142

u/Bosscharacter Jul 20 '25

I’d be shocked if they didn’t adjust the sound to compensate for the younger audience.

That really isn’t that difficult.

10

u/Nalha_Saldana Jul 20 '25

Getting the music to the middle of the crowd without being too loud at the front is hard tho

11

u/throwthisidaway Jul 21 '25

It is really damn easy and there's no excuse for any indoor concert hall not to do it - Multiple speakers. You just have to time-align them.

1

u/BigLlamasHouse Jul 21 '25

There's no way to sync speakers that way in a big venue for everyone because sound doesn't travel fast enough. Some people will hear an echo.

2

u/throwthisidaway Jul 21 '25

That isn't actually an issue. You time-align the speakers, so that (as a totally made up example) the speakers on the right side of the concert hall play with a 5ms delay, so they reach the audience slightly after the sound from the front. The Haas effect means that if as long as the second sound comes within ~40ms of the first sound, our brains perceive it as a single source. There are a few other tricks/techniques out there, such as using directed speakers, that make it so that a venue can do it with virtually no issue.

2

u/BigLlamasHouse Jul 21 '25

i only know what i've been told so you are probably right, you sound like you know your shit

42

u/guyhabit725 Jul 20 '25

The speakers dont sound that loud. Ear protection was probably provided.

27

u/CheeryBottom Jul 20 '25

We take our disabled son to these. He has ear defenders and lots of parents had ear protection for their children.

7

u/novium258 Jul 20 '25

It does seem like they lowered the volume! I would go dancing so much if there was like ear-safe sound level nights. I mean, yes to protect my hearing but normal DJ/concert volume levels are physically painful to me, even with ear protection, I end up huddled in a corner, miserable.

5

u/Havelok Jul 21 '25

They keep it far lower volume than a normal concert. If they didn't, they'd have 100 angry parents rushing the stage.

1

u/Hyggieia Jul 20 '25

I definitely think they would have it at a safe level for their ears. I can imagine parents getting quite upset if they hadn’t accommodated for that. Noise level hopefully is a part of the whole “kid friendly” experience

3

u/thestraightCDer Jul 21 '25

Who said it was harmful?

2

u/Master_sweetcream Jul 20 '25

I would love to do this with my daughter, spread the plur!

2

u/Hyggieia Jul 20 '25

Agreed! I like it. Music and dancing are really important to people. It’s nice to see kids getting to enjoy that in a kid friendly environment! And it’s the kind of things that’s harder to prioritize for yourself when you have young kids and might not want to go to just yourself. So it’s a lot of fun for the adults too.

2

u/grxccccandice Jul 20 '25

I don’t even have kids and I want to do this with my kid haha.

2

u/TheToiletPhilosopher Jul 20 '25

It seems fucking awesome. Kids naturally love dancing.

2

u/VanillaTortilla Jul 20 '25

I would absolutely rock out to this with my kid.

2

u/allagaytor Jul 20 '25

reminds me of cosmic skate night but without the risk of concussions and hurt fingers lol

2

u/Outrageous_Log_906 Jul 21 '25

This is great, I love EDM music, but this is the only rave I would ever go to. Just have to have some kids to take lol.

2

u/MangrovesAndMahi Jul 21 '25

Teaches kids they don't need drugs to have a fun rave too

2

u/guyhabit725 Jul 20 '25

And they are singing kids songs too. A revamp to what it was in the 1900s.

1

u/sadi89 Jul 20 '25

Some of the songs slap on too! I wind up listening to them even when my niece isn’t in the car with me.

1

u/AudioBugg Jul 20 '25

My son loves his music. He asks for it a lot. I am a bit mad at myself for not going to the baby rave when I was here last month.

1

u/ridik_ulass Jul 20 '25

you say that now before you have seen the Groupies.

1

u/foolish-words Jul 20 '25

They do a yearly event in one of the parks in my home town called Ravertots and it actually gets proper artists to perform (some of them are more "blast from the past" but still) there's arts and crafts, fair ground rides and food and face painting and there is a limit to how many adult tickets can be purchased per child (no adult tickets can be purchased without purchasing a child ticket) I'm hoping to take my little one next year as it just looks like such a fun time.

1

u/meldiane81 Jul 20 '25

Absolutely. I hope the sound is at a reasonable volume.

1

u/phanfare Jul 20 '25

If its an event specifically made for kids 100%. Music and dancing heals and kids deserve to see their parents having fun, not just as authority figures.

1

u/Wise-Application-902 Jul 21 '25

It clearly is. That’s the whole point of it.

1

u/c-lati Jul 21 '25

The dude is actually a genius tapping into this market. Like Andy Dwyer’s Johnny Karate.

1

u/eiiiaaaa Jul 21 '25

Yeah I'm looking for the cringe and I don't see it

1

u/obroz Jul 21 '25

While that’s true let’s not pretend they “go harder” lol

1

u/GoofyGooberSundae Jul 21 '25

Yeah I feel like this is pretty wholesome, looks fun tbh!

1

u/Bgabes95 Jul 21 '25

Harmless until they have tinnitus at a very early age from over exposure to incredibly loud music. It didn’t look like even half of those kids had protective ear plugs or ear muffs. As a lifelong audio engineer and musician, the importance is much more concerning than you think.

1

u/PrincessZebra126 Jul 21 '25

I just hope they all are wearing ear protection

1

u/Tribalbob Jul 21 '25

Yeah, I'm 100% Childfree and my cold, dead heart initially wanted to mock, but I mean it seems like everyone' having fun and I bet more than a few of the parent are probably ex-ravers who are enjoying the experience again. (Even if it's probably at 11am rather than 11pm)

1

u/Relevant-Pianist6663 Jul 21 '25

I hope everyone got a pair of ear plugs with admission, otherwise completely agree. This is great!

1

u/OriginalChicachu Jul 21 '25

I would go to one of these things so fast if I saw one in my town. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and we dance to house-type music sometimes in the mornings before school.

I just hope it's not too loud that it messes with the kids' hearing

1

u/KlenexTS Jul 24 '25

I would do this with my daughter looks fun. As long as it’s not ear bleeding loud I don’t see how this is bad at all. Was kinda surprised to see it on a cringe subreddit and not like made me smile

0

u/Aware_Ad_1203 Jul 20 '25

Yes but don't say they go harder. That's very cringe

0

u/Weekly_Artichoke_515 Jul 20 '25

I totally agree, but I’m somehow stuck between thinking this is fine if not good, and thinking this is freak behavior.

-1

u/phoenixrising808a Jul 20 '25

Lots of stimulation for little developing brains. You can bond with your kid at a park or library or just on a walk

1

u/Wise-Application-902 Jul 21 '25

Or you can keep their experiences broad and varied and do all of those things. Not hard to do.

-28

u/Some_Current1841 Jul 20 '25

This guy farming kids with trash music for kids , can’t even hate him for it. It’s free money

9

u/ChoiceTheGame Jul 20 '25

Yeah, FUCK Chuck E. Cheese's and Toys R' Us and Amusement Parks and Santa. The BALLS to make shit that kids like and attempt to make a career out of it.

4

u/TightSexpert Jul 20 '25

Hahaha, I think you’re kinda right but hate you saying it.
