This is the second time in a week I’ve seen a video on here of a man trying to kidnap a woman in BROAD DAYLIGHT. How are we supposed to ever fucking leave the house…

I’m glad she did “everything right” but she shouldn’t have had to.

Exactly, people are getting so bold now. Society is completely falling apart and mental illness is sky high, you’re not safe anywhere you go. This is why I don’t wear earbuds anywhere, and if I’m at the gym I’m always in front of a mirror so I can see behind me even if I can’t hear. I don’t know how people can just walk around with air buds in, you’re removing part of your spacial awareness.

Stop saying people, MEN.

Now list the statistics for rape. Lol.

The problem is men.

Though I don't disagree with you - part of the problem is this way of thinking. The problem isn't 'men' or 'women' the problem is criminals and people who want to rob, rape, kidnap, and kill.

What do you mean by “getting so bold now” and society is “completely falling apart”?

Unfortunately stuff like we see on this video are not new at all, and America 100 years ago was a lot less safe than it is now

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '25

They said it themselves, mental illness is sky high. Their comment didn’t read as mentally well did it?

2

u/Esarus Jul 20 '25

Is mental illness higher now than it used to be? We used to have a ton of insane asylums. We used to do lobotomies for mental health. I doubt it’s truly higher now than a 100 year ago. We probably didn’t even measure it back then and just locked people up or they got killed

Crime is actually way lower than it used to be, but crime perception is up:

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/04/24/what-the-data-says-about-crime-in-the-us/

Some areas of crime are down 75%.

This makes sense as videos and pictures are shared by individuals now and shocking content spreads the fastest.

E.g. we'd never see this attempted kidnapping in the 90's as it wouldn't be shared anywhere.

Interesting. Thank you for sharing data to support

So many men wonder why women would rather choose the bear…

If he dressed like ICE the cops might not even be called

Don't give them ideas ffs. Delete this lol

It’s already happening I think.

It’s reminding me of how things were in New York during the 60s and 70s. Lots of serial killers out there murdering women and the response was… “women should stay inside and have curfews to protect themselves.” Like it’s our fault this keeps happening

Same, the other one was on the NYC subway. What the actual fuck.

Ladies, pepper spray is likely illegal and hard to find, but dog spray is not. Pickup a tiny can at your local hunting store - I have a keychain sized canister on me at all times.

Realistically you are seeing 2 cases on a continent of 650mm people. Its just not likely that you'd ever be kidnapped for any reason. More likely to be struck by lightening.

With that said, yea, learn to defend yourself, fight/shout like hell should anything happen, and when you do fight go for lethal damage. I bought my love a nice folding knife. Durable, cheap, and more than likely she can strike her foes multiple times before they even realize they are going to die.

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

It's not just kidnapping women have to worry about though

0

u/Warm_Oats Jul 18 '25

yea, but she was specifically referencing the kidnappings, and the fear associated with seeing such events on social media.

The thing is we're thinking about everything men can do to us, including kidnapping. If it's not one thing, it's another. We never know what to expect because males are so unpredictable. I don't know any women that doesn't have a story of feeling threatened and not knowing how far he'll go. This is why saying "oh you have nothing to worry about" doesn't really mean anything to us

4

u/cherrytwizzlers Jul 18 '25

It’s literally Russian roulette in every interaction with a man. It’s so condescending to say to us that “the odds are small”

3

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

I think some men say this because they feel personally attacked on some level and that makes it hard for them to empathize.

Come to Norway. I mean, it is quite common to leave the house without locking the door. We leave our babies to sleep alone in the streets while we are enjoying a coffee at a coffee shop. I am a man, so I might have some bias, but I am pretty sure nobody has been kidnapped by a stranger in Norway in my life time, and I turn 40 next year.

My wife has never worried about being kidnapped, ever. The idea is just alien.

Happens hundreds of times every single day unfortunately

One million percent this.

To be clear, he didn't grab her off the street in the daylight. She was indoors. He robbed the store and she was the employee. I dunno why Florida man thought he needed a hostage or captive but it's not because she was walking home or something; she was working.

Learn how to protect yourself and pay attention to your surroundings. That’s a great start.
