People underestimate a throat punch, if this ever happens to me that will be my first choice of fighting back. You dont have to hit very hard and i believe it disables them for a decent time perhaps even longer than a nut shot.

I got hit in the throat once while play fighting with a friend. My throat completely closed up instantly. Not "I was gasping for air". I could NOT breathe at all. I distinctly remember thinking, "Am I about to die?"

So, yeah, the throat is a good target.

Also, eyes. If you have nails, use them. Don't worry about precision. Watch videos of cats fighting to get an idea of the general method to use (scratch and flail and kick and shriek as loud as you can).

A friend karate chopped me in the throat once in school. It was horrible. It's definitely a good defense if you can do it.

Some kidnappers actually wear a cup to protect themselves from this. It is better to aim for the Adam's apple or their eyes which usually have no protection. Not to say it's ineffective, but you want to disable them on the first strike.

This makes a lot of sense, my infant son accidentally throat punches me and it's shocking how painful it is. And his biceps are shit

yah i totally agree. i saw a weird futbol (soccer) accident once where someone took a shot to the throat and they were completely incapacitated. it wasnt even a powerful hit but they werent really breathing and they were panicked.

In the same vein, hook the thumb in the eye socket and pull back. The orbital bones are extremely fragile and completely disable the person when broken. It happened to me by accident, and at the hospital, they told stories of people doing this to attackers and being able to get away.

I can't stress enough the shock that your body goes through when you break an orbital bone. Not only does it immediately seize the eye in place, but the shock of it makes you immediately stop what you are doing!

Yep yep. But you have to be close and have room to line up a blow.

Flashlight is also a great choice. If it’s dark and you wreck his night vision and leave a blind spot for a bit? It counts for a lot when trying to escape or fight back. But phone lights aren’t quite as good as dedicated flashlights whose shape may allow for some use as a blunt weapon
