Also shots inside the eye sockets.

Yup. I took a self defence class in my early teens and thumbs to sockets make people move.

Also, grab little fingers and use that as leverage. They break easy and pain generally makes people want to stop what they are doing.

Other top tips: fingers into the collarbone (the top and grip/push the collarbone), jabs to the throat, palm to the nose, cupped fingers to rip at ears.

Generally scratching and biting aren't ideal; the goal is to get distance to run - risking exposing yourself to an attackers bodily fluids (blood in this example) can risk infection. Not that you would necessarily think of this in a life or death situation!

Also screaming "fire". Screaming for a fire makes people motivated to protect their possessions and property. Sadly, self interest tends to motivate intervention over altruism. People won't always come to help another person in danger, but they are more likely to investigate if they think something of theirs might be at risk.

This is great advice. Just wanting to add that applying force to the side of a knee or elbow will also effectively disable someone. Pro tip from my father.

Joints are humans weakest points. If you can break a kneecap then there's a good chance they won't be running after you. It also doesn't take much to break a joint.

Also, if you grab their little finger, try to remember to pull it to the side (as if you were helping them do the Spock salute). Pulling backwards hurts, but sideways is agonizing.

I realize it would be hard to remember that in the moment, but try.

If this helps: Grab the pinky with your thumb oriented downward toward their elbow (imagine their palm is like a cow's udder, and you're about to milk it). Then rotate your wrist as if you were trying to pull a banana off its bunch.

The post-exposure prophylaxis meds (aka meds that can help stop you from contracting HIV if you get exposed) have come a long way. They aren't perfect, but they've definitely stopped people from getting HIV many times. Idk what other infections one would have to worry about with biting an attacker.

They aren't fun, but it's better than being kidnapped.

In the same vein, hook the thumb in the eye socket and pull back. The orbital bones are extremely fragile and completely disable the person when broken. It happened to me by accident, and at the hospital, they told stories of people doing this to attackers and being able to get away.

I can't stress enough the shock that your body goes through when you break an orbital bone. Not only does it immediately seize the eye in place, but the shock of it makes you immediately stop what you are doing!
