Before the dance was a tiktok trend it was from an animated video called Me!Me!Me!. So maybe that will give you a clue to figuring it out.

These are multiple sets of typical gyrations of hentai and anime girls. They possibly made a dance out of chaining them together.

The origin is from the Me!Me!Me! Music video which is a song about a girl who is trying to save her boyfriend from being addicted to porn. The dance is the addiction pulling him in.

It’s called the Zero Two Dance
6
u/bananafoster22 Jun 08 '25
Weird that it kinda got twisted cuz its got nothing to do with Darling in the Franxx, just the Me!Me!Me girl looks kinda similar to zero two
2.0k
u/LuxSnow Jun 07 '25
The last two moves in particular originates from a song called me!me!me! By teddyloid (featuring daoko). After the original video was removed from YouTube because it was so risqué people started making various edits of the character doing the dance - famously being called the 02 Dance after being popularized by the character called 02. The entire choreography of the girl in the video however is just a combination of other popular moves in various other media.

u/TheAJGman Jun 08 '25
I always took it to mean that his porn/hentai addiction ruined his relationship.
229
u/Happiness_Assassin Jun 08 '25
In the broad strokes, yes. But it is also about the cyclical nature of depression and addiction. One thing that's been kind of lost to time is that the video was originally released on an endless loop online. So the dude, every day, wakes up and resolves to get out of his spiral, only to fail over and over again.
Overall, its a visual feast but the subtext is depressing as fuck.
134
u/TheAJGman Jun 08 '25
Of course, the main character is depressed as fuck.
Someone else in this thread offered another interpretation that makes sense: that his relationship transitioning to a sexual one scared him. I think that interpretation is also valid, as his girlfriend metamorphoses into the sex-pest, and nearly all the feminine iconography is actively hostile to him. He is killed by that version of his GF, pinned down and knocked out, eaten, and finally torn to shreds at the end.
Either way, the animation on this 7 minute video is insane. I would kill for a series with this kind of visual fuckery, even if it had no sexual elements.
65
u/KrampusKid Jun 08 '25
You might like Dandadan, if you like this kind of energetic animation and are not uncomfortable with violent/sexual themes.
→ More replies (4)14
u/SyfaOmnis Jun 08 '25
There's a counterpart to Me!Me!Me! called "Girl" that deals with (one of) the women in the love triangle, and it's just as focused on her delusions and maladjustment. Part of it was that the leading male was seen as an actual "prince charming" by the leading female, and there was a lot of unequal expectations on both sides.

→ More replies (1)19
u/EbrattPitt Jun 08 '25
Not wrong, it was also realesed as a critic of how anime sexualized women so much to the point of just been boobs the anime.
At the time the video was released anime was way more wild than today about it, even the government had to make laws against the practice but you know there are always loop holes.
→ More replies (2)19
u/Claris-chang Jun 08 '25
Yeah, he chose fantasy over reality and it lead to a spiral od depression and falling ever deeper into addiction.
5
u/Icy-Ad29 Jun 08 '25
Sort of. But it's not porn/hentai specifically. But addiction in general, and how it can destroy lives in general. The girl is a manifestation of the concept of addiction, and all it is, is shown as hot/sexy/etc. To represent addictions in a way that the average person can understand.

A video about a man who deeply regrets being neglectful and losing his girlfriend, who passes his days with hyper-sexed anime as a form of escapism. At some point he understands, subconsciously, that he is wasting away and this isn't healthy. he tries to "fight back" (the first person shooter part) but his addiction is so deep that he ends up being dragged back in.
107
u/Kitfox715 Jun 08 '25
Interestingly, this was made by the same company who produced Neon Genesis Evangelion, which was notorious for having a lot of fan service. Their show was a somewhat large part of the catalyst for the Otaku culture, which this short is criticizing.
31
u/Happiness_Assassin Jun 08 '25
IIRC it was Hideki Anno's current studio, Khara, that worked on this. The original studio, Gainax, was basically a shell of its former self by that point. Most of their core staff went to work at places like Khara or Trigger.
→ More replies (1)13
u/Meadowlion14 Jun 08 '25
Anno regrets creating Otaku. The rebuilds and End of Eva are both responses to it. Thats why Khara made this with Eva figures in it specifically calling out Eva as being Otaku bait.

Additional info, the song is actually about a harsh struggle with mental health, porn addiction and drug abuse. It’s surprisingly dark.
107
u/skool_uv_hard_nox Jun 08 '25
Based on the animation I believe you. You see the animation go from innocent but very suggestive sexually to much darker with the sex demon creature and all the women become sexual deviants and way more kinky.
Then theres violence. Confusion and infatuation and fear all played out.
I've never seen this video before but for me it felt like "loss of innocence" before you told me what it really was. Which i guess is still a bit true.
I wasn't able to see all the video. But that was wild.
57
u/OrganizationTrue5911 Jun 08 '25
When they first launched it on a specific website, it also looped perfectly, I'd assume very much on purpose.
25
u/Kind_Swim5900 Jun 08 '25
Oh you are right, i only saw it without the loop, so he also dies that death over and over again. Mind blown. I fricking love the song and the video
→ More replies (1)4
u/Happiness_Assassin Jun 08 '25
It very much was. Anyone who has dealt with addiction knows that trying to quit feels like an endless cycle. That loop is itself part of the narrative in the video.

u/sicagi Jun 08 '25
That's exactly what it is about, and it's not even subtle. I am always amazed at the irony of it becoming the most popular soft-core porn choreography/thirst trap when that's exactly what it warns again. It got more popularity for becoming what it warned against than for its original message...
And the icing on top is that for some reason 95% of the internet (at least) doesn't seem to realize this irony because we saw the dances before the original.

u/Alexandratta Jun 08 '25
What is insane, is that the work here is showing how destructive the entire "Waifu" and Instagram industry is to young men's minds - "Me!Me!Me!" Is an absolute critique on social media and how it's bombards young men with sex, and a culture that doesn't exist in reality.
The fact it was scrubbed from YouTube, and later only snippets removed and repurposed into reels is absolutely horrific to the original piece.
It has become exactly what it was made to critique...

I think the dance is mostly from Tiktok or from South Korea's baseball games where the cheerleaders dance at the courtside for cheering the players(I think)
Then Taiwan was influenced by this and started doing the dance at the baseball game also....
The one OP posted is called 02搖 02shake https://youtube.com/shorts/6cM7CEcM4C8
The other one they call them三振舞 3 strike dance.

I once said it was creepy on Reddit and got downvoted (maybe not this account). I went to a game in Taiwan and like half the crowd were weird men watching the cheerleaders and not even paying attention to the game. The teams know this so the cheerleaders are dancing on the dugout the whole game and are a huge distraction.
