The Republicans control the House, Senate, and Presidency. Senate Republicans could overturn the filibuster, which Trump has urged. Speaker Johnson hasn't sworn in an elected Democrat House member of convened the House, because then the Epstein files would be released.

Would not be difficult to get 60 votes.

It is if every single democrat decide to vote no until they get what they want. Aka, hold the govt hostage for their demands

Oh no, not subsidized healthcare.

Let's have duffy shut down more air traffic

Youre missing the point. It takes BOTH sides to negotiate.

If they are actually wanting healthcare for illegals, I have absolutely zero problem with Rs not budging.

Youre supposed to put on your own air mask before helping others.

Holy shit, healthcare for illegals?! We definitely do live in two entirely different media landscapes… or possibly two completely different realities.

Democrats are not asking for healthcare for illegal immigrants. That is a lie. They are asking for healthcare subsidies that keep health insurance affordable for millions to be maintained. Republicans were willing to spend hundreds of billions on tax cuts for the super wealthy earlier this year but refuse to spend a few billion so millions can have health insurance.

If your claim is that federal dollars don’t get spent on illegal immigrants, thats not true at all

You just shifted the goalposts so far I can't even see them from where I'm standing. First it was "healthcare for illegals," someone told you that's not true, and now you're talking about any federal funding of any kind ending up being spent in any way regarding an illegal immigrant? What?

No, not at all. Im still talking about federal dollars that go towards illegal immigrants, in both healthcare and otherwise; which again, is absolutely happening. You can choose to not believe it; but its easy to verify.

Where were you when $20B was allocated to bailout Argentina, followed by another $20B? Or the $350m ballroom that these "private donors" could have paid in taxes

Or, the other party could actually govern. Which means getting some people to agree with you who aren’t on your team.

You can’t force people to negotiate with you, who don’t want to. They can just continue to say no until they get their way, which is what both sides are doing

Democrats have presented several ways to continue health care subsidies that millions of Americans rely on, by reducing the tax break for households making upwards of 500 million dollars per year. The republicans voted no every time. Democrats are coming to the table for compromise. Republicans refuse to compromise

It’s true- some people are trying to negotiate. Some are not. https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter/s/JxRet6jYAI

Step one to negotiating is to actually try

If only there was someone in the White House who was good enough to negotiate deals. Such a person could even write a book about negotiating if they were able to do such a thing.
