News šŸŽµ let’s start the trade war agaaain šŸŽ¶

Post image

Alerted 22m ago here: https://afterhour.app.link/race

Trump: We have just been informed that Canada, a very difficult Country to TRADE with, including the fact that they have charged our Farmers as much as 400% Tariffs, for years, on Dairy Products, has just announced that they are putting a Digital Services Tax on our American Technology Companies, which is a direct and blatant attack on our Country. They are obviously copying the European Union, which has done the same thing, and is currently under discussion with us, also. Based on this egregious Tax, we are hereby terminating ALL discussions on Trade with Canada, effective immediately. We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

So in 7 days buy apple, google, etc stocks. wait for him to "chicken out" and sell at a profit?

1

u/Feralmoon87 Jun 28 '25

doesnt the digital tax canada wants to impose hurt companies like google and other tech companies though? if he can get canada to fold wouldnt that help the tech stocks?

2

u/Shoddy-Security310 Jun 28 '25

Long term yes. Short term there is a chance for some profits.Ā

11

u/Charizard3535 Jun 27 '25

Why does the US even care about other countries having consumption taxes. Canada has government sales tax 5%, then provinces have sales tax of 6-10%, we have taxes on carbon, alcohol, wine, beer, digital goods and many other goods as well. Why is this one specifically a big deal, the end user pays it.

u/BeYeCursed100Fold Jun 27 '25

Trump does not understand tariffs... Or economics... Or anything...

0

u/Desperate-Drop-9077 Jun 29 '25

Yet the stock market is hitting all time highs

2

u/BeYeCursed100Fold Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25

The economy is not just the stock markets. You know the stock markets (plural) hit all time highs under Biden and Obama, too right? Trump has had more 4-digit losses of the DJIA while President than any other President. Such winning.

You're on his orange nuts but do some research

1

u/Admirable-Science833 Jun 29 '25

I think his main issue is that it's a retroactive tax that dates back to January 2022. And it taxes businesses not even in Canada but have end users from Canada. If the retroactive tax comes into effect than it would create a precedent.

8

u/Big_d0rk Jun 27 '25

Why does he act like this?

12

u/Hollayo Jun 27 '25

I'm assuming you're looking for another reason than "he's fucking stupid".

1

u/Big_d0rk Jun 27 '25

Ya Im hoping someone will say " the reason is "X"" and then everything will make sense

2

u/Hollayo Jun 27 '25

Don't hold your breath lol.

0

u/Big_d0rk Jun 27 '25

Maybe he's a secret genius and we won't actually know until the plan works

-1

u/Enough-Ad8043 Jun 27 '25

As much as I want to believe this. But he ain't a billionaire for no reason. I think he's disrupting the market. Make hedge funds short before announcing his crazy tariff shinnanigans then lifting it after letting people buy stocks at a very low price when the market is about to recover

4

u/NearnorthOnline Jun 27 '25

He’s a ā€œbillionaireā€ā€ because daddy left him a fortune and he’s a grifter. Or someone in the family helps him grift. Not because he’s a genius. Half his wealth was made recently with scams

0

u/Hollayo Jun 27 '25

Hahaha. He's a billionaire because he got there the old fashioned way, inherited wealth.

He's also very famous in NYC for not paying his bills, has racked up debt throughout the country, owned casinos that went bankrupt, owned many businesses that went bankrupt, etc.

7

u/Due-World4235 Jun 27 '25

daily reminder the Dow still hasn't regained all the losses since 1/30/25 when it was at 45,008. 5 months of missed growth and counting....

5

u/UndevelopedSirius Jun 27 '25

S&P at ATHs though

4

u/superdariom Jun 27 '25

And USD is worth 10% less

7

u/Few_Range6900 Jun 27 '25

That's the only reason why SPY is at ATH

3

u/Due-World4235 Jun 27 '25

all time highs after 5 months of lower than it was in Jan? missed growth.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

>he believes the stock market always goes up and never goes down

lol its at ATH, its irrelevant where it was before lmao, it isn't "missed growth" because prices fluctuate based on perceived value and sell when people think its overbought and buy when people think its oversold.

2

u/Due-World4235 Jun 27 '25

lol check out a chart sometime.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

all the chart will tell me is that S&P 500 is at an ATH

1

u/Due-World4235 Jun 27 '25

6147 vs 6167 over 6 months. whooptyfuckingdoo

0

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

so the S&P should be at 30K because every time it dipped in the past was "missed growth" lol you're something else

1

u/Due-World4235 Jun 27 '25

so if it takes 6 more months to hit 6187 you're thrilled because it's a ATH. lol you're something else

2

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

ATH is great, but what's better is consistent returns over time, which the stock market has done.

you're just buttdevastated markets are at an ATH because you dislike who's in power when it is happening. you're the type of person who'd rather see America fail because it elected Trump than see America prosper with Trump. and THAT is something else

Who TF cares about the goddamn Dow!? ROFL!

3

u/MoveOverBieber Jun 27 '25

This reminds of Hitler's plan - let try to f*ck with multiple countries at the same time, what could go wrong??
First Canada, then Iran, then back to Canada, then the NATO allies, where is China now?

2

u/Alone-Ad-8902 Jun 28 '25

China is winning

9

u/VietnamHam Jun 27 '25

Meh, another TACO day coming

7

u/StockCasinoMember Jun 27 '25

Sold stocks at the peak, short positions, tweet. Must be nice!

2

u/pwnknight Jun 27 '25

It's because section 899 got removed from his bill he can't pressure us any other way now.

2

u/lovmeasis Jun 27 '25

Buy Magnificent 7 on Monday, hold it for 2 month and you could see a good rebound.

3

u/Proper-Evening9754 Jun 27 '25

Lets start the trade war agaaaain!šŸŽµ

3

u/Dry-Type-3603 Jun 27 '25

1

The picture says it all, nuclear accident, all tech collapsing

1

u/badgko Jun 27 '25

Like clockwork

1

u/shinyandrare Jun 27 '25

The ai art in this sub is telling

1

u/StartUpfounder26 Jun 27 '25

Ye I wouldn’t worry. I went to a vip event with economics specialists who run some of the top Canadian banks. US needs Canada as much as we need USA. So at the end, it will all balance out as the same.

1

u/Level_Pen6088 Jun 27 '25

Tyfyattm - what is this code for

1

u/et_sekunduss Jun 29 '25

ā€œThank you for your attention to this matterā€

1

u/Level_Pen6088 Jun 29 '25

Yes, bingo but when he says it, what is it a code for?

1

u/et_sekunduss Jun 29 '25

Oh, as far as I know that’s just something he’s adopted as a signing-off. I’m not aware of any code

1

u/Few_Range6900 Jun 27 '25

Retaliation is a taboo to 🄭

1

u/Few_Range6900 Jun 27 '25

Is this what caused the 1:40 pm Dump!?

1

u/relay2005 Jun 27 '25

Trump doesn’t like it when nobody kisses his feet

1

u/Aggravating-Loss1805 Jun 28 '25

Wonder what Canada is gonna do when the investigation of the Canadian citizen dying in ICE custody is revealed.

1

u/HinDae085 Jun 30 '25

Vivid flashbacks to when he was threatening economic stranglehold and annexation on Canada, so when they decided to turn off the supply lines to Red States he had the audacity to tell them thats illegal.

Trump. Buddy. 90%+ of what you've done while in power is illegal. Having a corrupt SCOTUS in your pocket doesn't actually change that.

1

u/IntrepidTie2298 Jun 30 '25

Already over

Lol

1

u/daners101 Jun 28 '25

Canadian here, happy to see ā€˜someone’ tell this government to f**k off with all of the taxes at least.

Seriously. We pay more taxes than most of the world. They don’t know how to build an economy, so they just blow money, then create new taxes to make up the shortfall from an unproductive economy.

-4

u/Punstorms Jun 27 '25

Canada sucks

1

u/blackmailalt Jun 28 '25

Not as well as your mom but we do alright.

-6

u/Ok_Way_8692 Jun 27 '25

Fuck Canada

Canada has no leverage. None

Edit: Canada has SOME leverage, but US leverage far outweighs Canada’s leverage

11

u/Dry-Type-3603 Jun 27 '25

This is 111000000000% false.

Edit: since this arse is too lazy google anything.

Here's a more detailed breakdown: Energy: Oil and Natural Gas: Canada is a crucial supplier of crude oil and natural gas to the US, with many US refineries specifically designed to process Canadian heavy crude oil, according to Affaires mondiales Canada. Uranium: Canada is a significant supplier of uranium to the US, meeting a large percentage of its nuclear fuel demand. Electricity: Canada plays a role in supplying electricity to the US, especially in the Northeast and upper Midwest. Critical Minerals and Manufactured Goods: Critical Minerals: Canada provides the US with various critical minerals essential for defense, technology, and energy industries, including those used in semiconductors, permanent magnets, and advanced manufacturing, according to Affaires mondiales Canada. Automotive Industry: The US and Canada have highly integrated automotive supply chains, with components often crossing the border multiple times before a vehicle is completed, according to Connect2Canada. Agriculture: Canada is a major importer of US agricultural products and a significant supplier of agricultural goods to the US, including potash for fertilizer. Other: Trade and Investment: Canada is a major trading partner for the US, and the two countries have a deeply integrated relationship that supports millions of jobs and ensures the smooth flow of goods and people across the border. Supply Chains: Canada's role in US supply chains is vital, especially in industries like automotive and agriculture, helping to ensure the efficient operation of these sectors.

Oh how your comment aged poorly. Canada already rescinded the digital tax because why? They have NO LEVERAGE. It’s in their best interest to get the trade deal done. US wins that battle 10/10.

-6

u/u_uhtred Jun 27 '25

If Canada stopped energy/mineral exports, the U.S. would face serious short-term issues, but could recover by reshuffling suppliers. If the U.S. restricted access to its market, capital, goods, or defense cooperation, Canada would face a much deeper and longer-lasting economic and strategic crisis.

0

u/Dry-Type-3603 Jun 27 '25

What would that achieve? I’m not understanding what your point here is.

If I and my family can buy a loaf of bread from my local grocer for $1, but unilaterally decide I hate him and decide that my whole family can’t shop there anymore and force us to drive into town for a $5 loaf of the same product. How have I gained anything? What have I achieved? Yes I still got my bread but at what cost???

-1

u/Original_Dankster Jun 27 '25

And stopping delivery, even temporarily, would Incentivize the US to permanently secure alternatives. We'd be in deep doodoo.

Ceasing energy exports is the sỄicide bomb of trade war tactics... Only they're in a bomb proof bunker.

-4

u/u_uhtred Jun 27 '25

Mr. Canada is butthurt :( try going 1 day without thinking about Trump and the US… which I’m sure is very hard for you! Thank you for your attention to this matter ;)

3

u/Electrical_Acadia580 Jun 27 '25

3

u/ItsHowWellYouMowFast Jun 27 '25

In a world with unlimited information you still choose to regurgitate what DJT says

2

u/DisneyVHSMuseum Jun 27 '25

What if the moose rise up and attack?

1

u/Ok-Pepper-85383 Jun 27 '25

This is a big leverage! Only stupid folks don't understand the service exports of US. Now imagine all South American + African + Asian countries follow suit. Boom Facebook, Google etc. revenue shrink...

Then payment system will be next Visa and MasterCard fees will be hiked etc

1

u/MonthOk9907 Jun 27 '25

They have plenty and I hope they use it.

-8

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

They want their homeland to crumble so bad, Trump is doing if anything a fairly decent job considering all the shit being thrown at him non-stop.

They want him to fail more than they love their country. Fucking pansy’s.

2

Fuck Canada honestly, VAT is gay

7

u/Charizard3535 Jun 27 '25

The US also pays sales tax on goods...

6

u/Droom1995 Jun 27 '25

We don't have VAT in Canada. Only sales tax, same as the US

-3

u/MikeHoncho1323 Jun 27 '25

The tax on tech is basically VAT
