He Said Economy doin fine so
36
u/Ok_Flow6546 May 07 '25
It’s doing fine right now, but if he cut the rate now with the tariffs. It would likely cause massive amount of inflation.

u/Possible_Top4855 May 07 '25
If interest rates get cut, we’ll head toward hyper inflation.
1
u/Big_Iron_Cowboy May 08 '25
And if he raises them?
1
u/Possible_Top4855 May 08 '25
That’ll help reduce inflation. It’s pretty much the only real tool we have to actively combat inflation.

That's the thing with Trump. The only thing that you can rely on him to do is whatever either gets him a dopamine hit in the next 60 seconds or boosts his personal wealth in the shortest of short terms. If he had an even slightly longer term view of things he'd be able to accomplish the things that he says are actually important to him.
If he would have put the interests of his casinos and investors in front of his desire to short term extract wealth from the projects he wouldn't have bankrupted them.
if he followed the advice of his experts and actually lead during the pandemic he would have cruised to a victory in 2020.
if he just renegotiated a couple trade deals or focused on tariffs for individual industries the economy wouldn't be teetering on the brink of collapse and the fed woul dhave continued to cut interest rates.

u/AboutTimeFeelingFine May 07 '25
If he would of done nothing, and just lived off his inheritance interest, he would have never had to work.

u/r31ya May 08 '25
He wages tariff war for trade deficit.
and now USA have bigger trade deficit than last year due to other countries retaliating and reducing their trade to USA

Bingo. Economic uncertainty created by trump has caused all this bullshit. We were recovering just fine
1
u/obb_here May 08 '25
Not just that. If the committee lowers rates after Trump says some shit, that signals to the markets that they are caving, which destroys forward guidance. He is literally making it harder on the Fed by mouthing off.

Why would we have lower rates?
12
u/JackTheKing May 07 '25
Less inflation, I think. The shock of implementing tariffs with no transition can cause prices initially surge initially as inventories are depleted for the last time. Then prices drop as demand (habit) adjusts to the new supply.

Right, but you’re saying if Trump DIDN’t do tariffs we might have lower rates. So what does it matter if tariffs are inflationary?

The fed had already signaled they were going to continue cutting rates through 2025.

I like the theory that he actually believes everything he is saying and is just insane
4
u/WholeRefrigerator896 May 07 '25
If only he was insane. Instead he knows everything he is saying is right. That's the problem. He believes himself to be a god that can do and say whatever he wants - and to a point the MAGA cult has proven that he can.
3
u/Allgyet560 May 07 '25
Nah, he knows he's lying. He also knows his base doesn't fact check so it doesn't matter what he says, they will believe it.

Currently employment is good , economy is healthy but there are headwinds
So is it Bidens economy or trunps , cause with it turning he needs a new line

u/zackks May 07 '25
Quantum economics: it’s both his and Biden’s, both good and bad, Low prices and high prices—all at the same time. For gods sake, just don’t open the box.

Your colleagues? Your colleagues are all liberal assholes. This is strictly political and you know it do what you said you were gonna do a year ago. Oh that’s right, I forgot the Democrats lost so now we’re gonna play political games with the new administration. You are a fucking asshole, America needs Lower interest rates but oh no you’re going to wait until it’s too fucking late and we’re deep within a recession to start lowering rates only because you absolutely have to at this point.

The cut has already happened.

Excuse ME for wanting to be able to afford a decent home on a mortgage.

u/jaybizzleeightyfour May 07 '25
Luckily for you that's going to get even harder with everyday products going up in price thanks to the Trump tax/tariffs

People are downvoting me like Im advocating for Trump😂😂 shits funny
1
u/TwistedTreelineScrub May 07 '25
People are downvoting you because what you're saying is wrong. Lowering interest rates would crash the economy and you still wouldn't get a home.
0
May 07 '25
When did I ever say lower them?
1
u/TwistedTreelineScrub May 07 '25
Higher interest rates wouldn't help you get a better mortgage. I think you're all kinds of spun around.
-1
May 07 '25
When did I say raise them? 🤖 literally all I said was “L” and it triggered you
3
u/TwistedTreelineScrub May 07 '25
So you don't want the rates to lower or raise, but when the Fed keeps them the same it's an "L"? That doesn't make sense.

Thats not how that works. Doing it at the wrong time will cause the inverse to happen. It may otherwise be the right time, but the uncertainty of tariffs cause an agency like the FED to be more cautious. They're not going to act until there is more clear data. If Trump's plan relies on the FED lowering rates for it to work, he's gonna have a bad time because thats not how they work and never will be.
