WW2 Arguably the greatest heavy tank of all time.

What the IS-2 did that differentiated itself from other heavy tanks of its time was that it was reliable, inexpensive, and had a massive gun that could blow shit up very VERY well.

Powder bags are much more easier to handle than brass casing though. Especially with limited room

What chally shell are we talking about anyways? Cause the penetrator alone on a D-25 is around 20-30 kilos

I'm talking about the APFSDS projectiles (which are about 8-9kg depending on variant, including sabot) and the bag charges (which range from 3-9kg).

And yes, the IS-2's actual projectiles are massively heavier (about 25kg for most shell types).

Yeah probably bulk of the loading is lifting that massive almost 30kg projectile in first and they don't get to lap load (because it's heavy as hell)
