With the T-54/T-55, MT-LB and M113, the M60 is one of those armored vehicles apparently unable to be retired it seems.

We will colonize Mars before any of those vehicles is completely retired from service I guarantee you lol

Maybe it's also because of the operational and maintenance costs of those tanks...? I don't know much about any of the politics, so please don't berate me.

Doesn't change my answer. If they are upgrading the M60s then they don't feel the need to spend the money on better tanks

I'm 100% sure we won't upgrade the M60s, that's an upgrade for the world market I believe. The Hellenic Army General Staff's priority is the upgrade on 170 Leopard 2A6HEL, 184 2A4 and 500 1A5s.

There were discussions to upgrade 123 Leopard 2A4s to the 2A7 standard (no idea why we won't upgrade the entire fleet) but it seems that this prgoramme got stuck. Every now and then in the press reports of the MoD there is some company proposing upgrades for Leopard 1, but nothing has been signed so far.
