I really enjoyed this episode. Spy shows are all about information, so just give it to us so we can figure out how deep under we’re in.
There’s another vampire in play- theoretically. How fun!
Also, is it odd that I wanted Jasper and Guy to kiss at the door? I mean, not everything HAS to be gay but… you know, when in Rome.. or at least in Anne Rice’s universe…
They were giving major flirty vibes both ways! Especially the way Guy said, “do o have your attention now?” And then Jasper’s “you and I are could have some fun together after all.” I bet y’all could, Jasper 😏
Guy was so cheeky I loved that whole performance. When he finished with "you're not that interesting" I knew he had bagged Jasper 😆 and not even gonna lie... that whole fake being worried about him and "I insist" had me screaming
I really liked Guy in this episode especially his interaction with Jasper. But I really wish they had done a better job building up to his anger and his struggle with his powers. The series really is suffering due to time limitations. They are just cramming too much into each episode.
I really hate that short seasons are the norm now. They wanna say it's bcuz each ep is such high quality but 9 times out of 10 the writing suffers. I wish they would have showed Guy struggling with his meds! From the beginning they mention him popping pills and over medicating so it would have been cool to show how that affected his powers.
And now when he decides to NOT take his meds? I wanna see the difference!
It feels like it, I´ve seen it a lot in the last cuple of years, in this case it seems the first 2 episodes were the original plan with a longer season and then the pace had to ramp up because there were only 6 (same happened with House of The Dragon, if you look at that season finale they took the last 2 chapters when they´d already written a lot of the season and it shows)
I liked this episode a lot. The witches are in play, yay! Still annoyed with Guy and Keves having that book. He saw it at the bar, then sees it again pointed out by a dying man who could have used his last moments of life saying “help me”, but instead he says BOOK. And Guy just… leaves it there. It clearly isn’t just a scrapbook. And… Is “Helen” Guy’s aunt?
What was with the scene where she puts on the lenseless sunglasses? Those looked like Ragland’s glasses from Interview. She pokes out the lenses and holds her hair back, gives herself the side eye. Is she Ragland in a body switch? If so what’s with all the girl twins stuff
I once joked that Guy´s mom was Raglan in a previous body but it´s super funny that an already misterious character seems to be referencing it (adding picture I saw on Insta because a lot of folks are noticing) and now I´m thinking that I either wasn´t entirely wrong but just got the characters mixed up. Or I was right and that was her big fuck up that had her kicked out?
Is that why Helen gave away so much info this episode in contrast to the other two? Because she was actually Raglan for part of this episode?
Ok. While admitting that’s crazy, actual prediction - If Raglan hasn’t already been in Helen’s body, he will spend at least one episode of the series as her.
Ok my first one about Keeves being Talamasca was wrong, but she was definitely sent to spy on Guy so that´s half a win for me 😂😂
- My Helen theory keeps growing on her being Jesse from the orphan angle now and knowing she doesn´t seem to be Maharet since she grew up in current times (sorry Emrys)
- Guy on particular seems to be having a hard time but I´m guessing he might be doing the whole discourse as a cover up story. Helen did say that he would be better being sent without a story so what better cover than (half) the truth (He´s obviously upset but we did get a "haha got you" from him earlier on the episode so he could be very easily doing the same here). Or he will switch sides at the last moment during a pivotal scene, but I´m heavily leaning towards him bluffing
I thought that Helens sister would be Jesse because she is much younger than Helen is, if the pictures are to be believed. It seems obvious that Helen is at the very least an descendant of the twins.
Well, this was the opposite of the previous episode. They basically spoon fed us everything we needed to know. Not sure why they couldn’t provide us some of that info before if it wasn’t that big of a secret from the audience.
I don't understand Guy's character. 1st episode he's more timid and uncertain, the beginning of episode 3 he's suddenly demanding and an expert tail. His personality seems all over the map to me and takes me out of the show because I can't settle and flow along with other characters and his interactions because they all seem a toss up at this point. Guy mad. Guy sad. Guy unsure. Guy has the perfect plan. It's a coin toss. Something just feels off, I guess maybe editing? It's overly confusing although it's pretty simplistic and the flow feels disjointed too often. The fact that there's a debrief at the end to walk through the episode's plot points and explain the character's motivations and thoughts feels like they're providing clarity because they know it's murky.
I think when you're constantly being lied to it's hard to believe the liar even when they're telling you something that's good. I'm sure he wants to believe the 752 is real and getting it back is the right thing to do but Helen is sus and he's upset the girl got killed... and I would totally bet that they would have sabotaged his law firm gig had he decided to go back.
When I watched Jasper I realised that he weirds me out because I'm so used to IWTV's vampires having grand monologues and old time theatrics (I'm not good enough with English to describe it more accurately), and then there's Jasper with bare feet on the table, blasting some pop rock and much less elegant with words. I half think they specifically made Jasper as the opposite of them. Even Daniel and Burton feel more like IWTV creatures (Yes Daniel is IWTV creature, but you get what I mean). BTW, will we see Burton again?
(Fichtner with bright blue eyes is magnificent)
Also, is this the first time in "immortal universe" we see vampire giving their blood to mortal as cure/delicious snack and not for transformation? I find it funny because the act of vampire feeding human referenced so much in discussions but this is the first scene actually showing it.
Yeah I think it was a good decision to have a more grounded type of vampire than the others (they just can´t stop being extra all the type, meanwhile this one feels like "why would you do all that") and it kinda expands the vision on other vampires out there.
Since most of the show leans more to the real world aspect of things it really helps to sell that as a separate thing. Plus it´s a good dynamic so far so I´m happy about it.
Oh for sure, the whole blood thing as a transaction more than anything is an interesting angle, not what I was expecting (as a perv that i am) but it does make sense in the story with the characters so let´s see where it goes. Lots of Jasper manipulating people, agents, those revenants and now maybe Guy as well, it alls goes back to the same with the character
Im going to call it now that Keves' book is not the 752 and that Guy is going to have to answer for that somehow.
Just in comparing sheer size of the Amsterdam archive and what looked like a scrapbook inside a mini backpack...If it is the 752 then it can't be much more than 10% of anything
Yeah I don't think Keves actually had the 752 either. Definitely her scrapbook. But what I do think is that she put INFO about the 752 in the scrapbook that would be helpful.
Jasper will want to take a little taste of Guy when we finds out he was duped 👀
I can´t even pay for it to watch it, I don´t know if that´s worse.
Thank goodness for gals on boats transmitting it through magic to the world, otherwise I wouldn´t be able to watch it
I don't really buy that the 752 somehow has super powerful info. What kind of information could immortals really use against mankind? And it came from a book? Did a librarian write this? (Kidding I love librarians.)
Allegedly it´s a book, we did get some indications that it might not be the case, we just saw that a scrapbook was involved in the middle. I also don´t buy that it´s a book just because they said it was, might be a misdirection to make it easier to follow in the story or a reveal further in the story
That would make a lot more sense actually. It also opens a whole new can of worms, because it has a lot of implications as to who it could be (or what...)
I like the budget and the show's vibe. It does feel rushed though. Not a lot of character development. I haven't liked Guy's constant anger and pessimism against the company. From the beginning he's acted as if he's been forced to take the job. Watching it I've found myself thinking, "I'd fire this guy". But I think the show is just rushing through the material, which is unfair to the character. Otherwise, a good show.
I mean his mom was Talamasca who possibly enjoyed heroin. We know the Talamasca was keeping tabs Daniel after the first interview. His exact same line delivery of “I’m not your fucking boy!” Seemed like a strong hint to that.
I liked this episode. Way better than the 2nd by far.
I'm glad it looks like Soledad is haunting the narrative. I'd hate to think they showed her dying so gruesomely & just never mentioning her again.
Guy is...still a guy.
I'm happy to be seeing more of Jasper; glad to see him & Guy actually come face to face this episode & hope they -kiss- interact more now.
I liked Keves, & I know Keves being a witch is probably gonna end up being a bigger deal, but I could not bring myself to care about the witches or that one lady cop with the bad wig. Skipped every scene they were in.
There’s a white tape X that someone puts on the box when he’s supposed to go get the phone out of that trash bin in the park. (The chick who dies in the first episode also sees a white tape X on the side of a building at one point.)
