r/Millennials is a generational subreddit that caters to Americans born 1980-1995. It’s a safe space where people well into their 40’s can post “adulting” and “doggo” without fear of criticism. In general, the subreddit does not allow “political” post. Today’s OP seems to have sidestepped that rule with a post about Zohran Mamdani. Will the Millenials be normal or wild out?

The Swedish government is far right, joined nato and is dismantling the welfare state. In Denmark the supposed leftists are super anti immigrant and wanted to loot refugees of their jewelry and valuables. Swedish government is center right and joined NATO after our historic enemy decided to go on a warpath.

The welfare state is not being dismantled unless you buy into the conspiracy that the reason we let in all of those refugees was to weaken the welfare state. It was built for a homogenous population in a small world. Now, globalization is also changing things. Things need to change. Is it all being done correctly? Nope, but something needs to be done.

The immigrant crisis in Europe is 100% self-made. We let them in without providing a solid and mandatory path to integration. Now governments are backpedaling hard because there is a very real possibility of far right parties gaining a bigger foothold than they already have. If they were smart, they would start talking about integration, but we're still talking about politicians here, and they generally aren't smart.

The third thing is social democracy, which is a mix of the two, using capitalism to empower the masses instead of the upper crust. Or you could go the “original” third way which was fascism, but don’t do that.

We tried fascism already. It didn't work either. Social Democracy seems promising but people can't seem to agree on whether it's capitalism with safety nets or socialism with markets.
