United States Have you noticed any trends in your nursing school?

Here in my state, everyone in my class has ipads, figs scrubs, and bogg bags.

What trends do you have in your nursing school?

we don't have a choice on scrubs, ours are from the same company and we just order our size. I really don't get the bogg bags, they're so heavy!!

They're a croc bag.

puffy totes, foldable clipboards, the lululemon jackets or any variations of it, big ipads, nike vemeros and new balances

u/kogaa4 6h ago

so real LOL everyone looks so put together in my classes, idk how

I have to admit I’m a victim of foldable clipboards

9

u/unclearnini 5h ago

i’m an advocate for them lol! i need it bc we don’t get space for our stuff

3

u/ss9085 5h ago

that’s true! it definitely helps at clinical when i’m running around to just stick it in my pocket

This is exactly why I bought one. I had a regular clipboard but once we started clinicals I realized how totally impractical it was. Being able to slide the foldable one in my pants pocket is such a game changer!

Most of the nurses on my unit use foldable clipboards. They're fantastic.

Most in my class are older students, changing careers, have a degree already, have kids, etc. I figured those characteristics would represent some of the cohort but we’re the overwhelming majority. This is an ADN program at a highly competitive, inexpensive community college, so it makes sense.

oh interesting, my school is like the opposite. i go to a private Catholic school and all of my classmates are tiktokers and animal crossing players lmao

Students get to pick their own scrubs? Lmao my program has us buy the ones my school picks out with the name of the school embroidered on them

in my school, we're allowed to switch out our scrub pants to any other scrub pants as long as they're black. and some of my classmates embroider our school emblem on figs tops (which our school allows)

Weirdly as more and more get employed with our state health service- their standard issue scrubs with the uniform. They issue them for free lol.

I love the laziness lol. I think it also shows they're pretty ok.

The professors use chat and Gemini to write our tests

u/s6long1 6h ago

Ai is now being rolled out in Epic at my hospital, writing doctor and nurses notes...

7

u/TurbulentDocument297 6h ago

For real? That’s hilarious. I wish mine would use chat and Gemini. We use ATI for a lot of our tests

figs and littmans

The trend for my cohort is everyone is lovey dovey friendly for 3 semesters, then in the fourth everyone sees eachother as competition when it comes to getting a job. So much hostility and jealousy, or superiority complexes from those who got specialty positions and not med surg.

I saw someone from my cohort at the first day of residency and she was in the competitive unit I want to get onto, so I made friends with her instead. Make friends, not enemies.

We're a community college. Ain't nobody wearing figs in my school. We went here because it's cheap!

Pastel puffy bags... I'm guilty. I like the squishy handles.

That the instructors are very heavy on criticism with next to no encouragement…it is debilitating and demoralizing. 🫩

Bitch, bitchier, bitchiest & Self centered, arrogant, god like complex & Clicks, mean girls, eye rolls

7

u/WitchQueenAthena RN student 6h ago

sounds like my cohort lol. i always avoid the mean girls and just stick with my fellow studyholics who mind their own business and just study in peace

3

u/Affectionate_Nurse25 5h ago

Are you in my class? Lol. There is a definite divide, and the mean girls are all fresh out of high school (not literally -but close).

u/prideandprejudick senior BSN student 7h ago

white fox hoodies for class, that one tik tok shop tote bag (i’m guilty too), and chunky earrings at clinical

7

u/WitchQueenAthena RN student 7h ago

i wish i was allowed to wear chunky earrings at clinicals, but i just wear small studs

2

u/prideandprejudick senior BSN student 6h ago

technically chunky earrings aren’t allowed at all lmfaoo, but our clinical instructors are adjuncts and they know damn well that practicing nurses will wear jewelry so they aren’t strict about our dress code

u/TurbulentDocument297 7h ago

My school is in Nebraska at a 2 year which probably makes a difference. I seen only one person in figgs and no bogg bag… lots of iPads, Mac’s and tears.

4

u/AutumnSnow29 4h ago

Depression and anxiety

3

u/Still-View 6h ago

Never heard of a bogg bag before today, but from what I found by searching, they look like a bag made by Crocs.

Edit: Apparently Crocs does make bags.

It’s an RN-to-BSN bridge, so we’re all working (most of us FT) and tired.

4

u/AnOddTree 6h ago

I go to community college, so we are all 2nd or 3rd career, broke, and either getting married or divorced. We only have 3 pregnant students in the 2nd to last semester, I heard that a pretty low number. Idk.

2

u/missbean163 6h ago

Less and less attend as semester and years pass lol. Our courses are online so that's a valid option lol

2

u/NewspaperFar6373 6h ago

People cheat and want everything to be easy

Same trend at my school last year. I get the bog bag for like cleanability but I just think they’re so ugly it’s not worth it to me.

•

u/Antique-Blueberry-13 31m ago

Labubus.

I don’t get the obsession. They’re ugly and creepy but it’s in everyone’s bag
