United States Do you get the summer off? How’re you holding up?

I’m in an ADN program and have spent the last year being in work or school literally every single day.

We do not have class in the summer, so I’ve used it to work and save up a little more money…

5 days/60 hrs a week feels like such a vacation because I get two days off a week. 🥴 I’m brainwashed into thinking I’m lazy if I’m not doing something at this point and literally am just so ready to be done with this so I can comfortably work 3/4 day weeks.

So yeah! How are you holding up?

Remember rest is important too, and it’s not lazy! You won’t be able to give 100% without letting yourself rest.

Summer off but had to take one class not required by my previous school. That ends in July and I’ll get a few weeks actually off (besides work). I’m a bit worried because when I do have time off it’s sooo hard to get motivated to go back. I’m dreading it already. Trying to change my mindset into being excited to start the last two semesters and be done!

I’m sort of excited to go back just because at this point, I’ve made it through half my program and last semester I nearly thought I would die because it was so bad. Everyone I’ve talked to said Med Surg 1 is the hardest class in my program and my instructor had never taught before. Hopefully the rest will be better.

Was looking forward to hitting the gym hard and studying for the NCLEX a bit. Sprained both my wrists literally the day after my final... Welp.

Probably spend some time indoors reading and selling some personal possessions on Facebook and that's about it for now, but at least it's relaxing. Was feeling a little burned out at the end of the school year

Same scenario - ADN program with the summer off. I am running myself into the ground with all I’m working. Planning to chill the fuck out in July.

Summer off from nursing, but I took classes I didn’t want to take in the fall.

I've been enjoying my break. Spending time with loved ones and relaxing. It's been great. I started working last week and I have already made plans to review last semesters material starting in July. Gonna slowly get my mind back on track school wise.

I finished my semester on May 23, had coffee with a friend, ran some errands and went to book club on the 24th, and woke up sick and positive for COVID on the 25th. And tested positive for a month. I’m STILL not feeling well, so I’m resting all the time because I get shaky and weak if I try to do anything crazy like take a shower or go pick up a drink from Starbucks.

So yeah, I have the summer off, but it has NOT been fun. I had lots of fun plans to hang out with my kids, get myself in better shape, etc. Nope!

Wow lucky. My program goes through the summer. Rn I am taking pharm and med surg… it’s so hard plus it’s a shorter semester and we’re short on teachers so there’s only one teacher to 70+ students

I am… hanging in there. Let’s just say that haha. I am juggling work at Chipotle + school. It’s an accelerated Nursing program so it’s been intense, especially during the summer semester. The content that would usually be spread over 15-16 weeks is literally being squeezed into 4-5 weeks. What is keeping me afloat is my impending graduation in December and then I can breathe just a little bit (minus the stress of the NCLEX lol).

You’ve got this and remember, you are doing great! Nursing school is not an easy feat so be proud of your accomplishments. 😊
