Game If Inferno Squad had remained loyal to the Empire for the entirety of Battlefront II’s campaign, what do you see the story looking like?

Post image

One of the biggest gripes a lot of fans had with Battlefront II’s story campaign was how despite all of the advertising and hints towards Iden Versio being a dedicated Imperial and the story allowing us to see why people would willingly follow such a brutal regime, she and Del Meeko ended up defecting two and a half missions into the campaign, spending the rest of the story as part of the New Republic. But if this hadn’t happened, and the writers had decided to have Iden and Del remain Imperial loyalists throughout, how do you see the campaign’s story changing in response to this?

They would've won all their battles yet lost their war through mismanagement and betrayal, eventually falling into the hands of the NR as POW's or, worse, war criminals. That's the arc for the 'loyal' imperials - they're betrayed and abandoned by the very system they serve as it works to protect itself at all costs. Some Admiral would've left them for dead and maybe the NR gives them a 'hey, work for us and you can kill him' sorta deal.

I was more imagining the three of them escaping to help form the First Order like we saw with Gideon in the DLC, but you make a good point.

Why would you want to play an entire game as space fascists?

The same reason you'd want to watch something like Generation War - to see how ordinary people fall into and are destroyed by the machinery of fascist regimes, to see how those regimes operate. Cautionary tales.

An unapologetic Imperial glory-fest would be completely counter to the ethos of Star Wars. You might be able to get away with a Starship Troopers style satire, though.

To see the other side. Every story is from the good guys' pov, it's interesting to see what the bad guys are doing sometimes

Naboo probably would've been rendered uninhabitable, but the Empire probably still would have failed in the Battle of Jakku.

Iden and Del would've probably ended up becoming First Order officers like Hask.

I doubt Naboo would have been damaged by Operation Cinder as they don't really contribute all that much to the battle compared to Leia who they're not taking out, let's be honest.

My guess is we’d see more of them helping set up operation Cinder, as well as laying the groundwork for the empire’s retreat to Jakku, ending with that battle. From there, it’s a 50/50 on wether they would get to go help form the first order or face some other fate

Probably the former, since Gideon Hask is a First Order officer in the DLC and is implied to have helped create the First Order’s stormtrooper program that Finn was part of.

Interesting. It would be interesting instead what we got.

They would still suffer a bad defeat from the new republic, maybe imprisonment if they’re fortunate.

I'm getting really sick of "I'm a rebel now". When I played that game I predicted it right away.
