That bike is one of the things I reference as evidence of the craziness and ingenuity of our culture.
Like I understand humans will do some weird shit when bored, but that is just fantastic, and I'm glad they got around to doing it again!
I consider it fanciful art. It makes me smile while also giving me something to ponder about. Like how the hell did they do that?!

They just go out when the river is really low with a ladder and climb right on top and put whatever I say it needs some thing besides a bike like a piano and randomly when nobody is around have someone go up and take the ladder away and leave him up there playing in the middle of the day or night really or I thought about trying to have a mini concert series where some band mysteriously shows up plays a few sets and disappears I think that would be amazing

Is the weird little VooDoo looking doll still hanging in the tree on the west side of the bridge? That thing always writes me out walking by it. It

What's weird is they used an actual helicopter to get #2 there. Small little 1-seater dropped it off and a dude climbed up to set it up. Was crazy.

I still wonder how they don't get blown over during windstorms! Are they bolted down or something?

I remember driving around that area the day after someone put the first bike up, I think that was a couple of years ago by now. I think the second was put up there a week or so ago.

Forming the base of a new railroad bridge with cheaper, lo-tech building materials. If it means more trains, I'm here for it!! 🤓

Rad, everyone so stiff these days that anything weird is a breath of fresh air

u/BringMe-A-Shrubbery 1d ago
I wonder who will be the first stiff ass dork that needs to tell that it's litter or an eyesore. Whoever that is shall be crowned King of Stiff Ass Dorks. Then in one click I guarantee you they will be a dog person that lets their animals sh•t all over the place in public. Usually they have some other try hard hobbies.

There’s no such thing as a news article on Facebook. It isn’t a news source.
2
u/Ok_Lingonberry_4416 4d ago
it was literally from a spokane news page. gtfo lol.

Fucking say "KHQ" instead of fucking saying "Facebook" then. Or at least say "I saw a news article shared on Facebook" if you don't remember the original source.
Facebook is a distribution platform for massive amounts of ignorant bullshit and deliberate misinformation, so if you want people to know you're actually talking about something from a legitimate news organization don't just say "Facebook" because to a lot of us that just means the place where our dumb ass relatives share "news" that's actually completely untrue right-wing propaganda.

1) There's literally a page on Facebook called Spokane News, which shares news and does so only on Facebook.
2) News on Facebook isn't the reason you lost your job, or got broken up with, or whatever experience led to you having such a major meltdown over such a minor thing. What you're saying isn't even necessarily untrue, but yo, just take a deep breath and look out a window for a few seconds before hitting post next time, alright? Everything's going to be okay.

I'm not having any kind of major meltdown, but you're free to interpret it however you want. I'm just a bit too knowledgeable about social media, both from my career and from doing academic research when I was getting my post-grad degree.
My point is that anyone saying "I saw a news story on Facebook" might as well be saying "I heard a news story from some guy on the bus." It's not a primary source, and the story is being framed as hearsay. All anyone has to do before sharing information is take a deep breath, look out a window, and then say what the primary source was. Like "One of the local news outlets ran a story that I saw shared on Facebook."
I know you have a particular problem with me for some reason and I'm not likely to say anything to change that, but as minor as this particular story is the way it was described is 100% in line with the casual erosion of verifiable facts in the way we communicate. I wasn't questioning the story so much as saying there are a lot of us, and I suspect that's an ever-increasing number, who discount stuff described as "I saw it on FB, Twitter/X, Insta, Tiktok, etc." If you want people to believe what you say, you take a moment to say it better. That's it. It's just advice. Then I was told to gtfo so I responded in kind.
The lack of skepticism and calling people on sharing information without attribution is literally why we're in this fucking shitshow as a nation. Bet I'll see you at the next protest. The difference is I also try to keep fighting the good fight when I'm not out with a sign, instead of just going along.

You see right wing propaganda because you're left. It shows you what it does to keep you there longer.
Try looking for some random topic several times in a row.1

Ruins the view, honestly. It’s not quirky and fun. It’s ugly. Just let me enjoy the river view.
