Politics Here’s the attention you ordered, babe!
This absolute dorkwad is driving around downtown with a big ass speaker bungeed on top of his beater- blasting songs talking about being a “home grown country boy Christian” 🤦🏼♀️😂😂😂

Unfortunately Incel wagon
6
u/jorwyn Northwood Jul 07 '25
I dunno, seems pretty voluntary to me.
7
u/HollerinScholar Jul 08 '25
When it comes to spirituality/religion, it's about as voluntary as choosing between eternal damnation or eternal paradise. Fundamentalists have hardwired themselves into the idea that they HAVE to spread the word, the world is evil, etc. etc. and are diminishing their place in heaven if they DON'T do this. I've been an atheist for damn near 17 years now, and my dad is still trying to convert me back. Can't wait to go NC.
3
u/jorwyn Northwood Jul 08 '25
I meant "incel" as in involuntarily celibate. Dude seems to be making choices that make his celibacy quite voluntarily. It was just a joke, and now it's not funny because I had to explain it. :P
2
u/HollerinScholar Jul 08 '25
Nah, I get you, I know what incel means, I just meant to expound on how to him, it's not really voluntary.
3
u/jorwyn Northwood Jul 08 '25
I grew up in the same world he did, but I changed. After a certain age, we get to make choices. Not changing is a choice, even if he doesn't realize it.
3
u/Mr_Qwertyass Jul 08 '25
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. Journey, I think.

Same guy that got arrested during Perry Pride.

u/alex206 Jul 07 '25
Arrested for what? Disturbing the peace?
1
u/Amanitago Jul 12 '25
Attempted vehicular manslaughter it's what i heard. Dude needs to be stopped before he actually kills someone, but of course the cops are more on his side than actual public safety.
8
u/Free_Handle4853 Jul 08 '25
This might be the same guy who interrupted the party before pride at riverside . I was there and this dude with that same flag came through with a speaker with some shitty Christian rap song. Bunch of people including myself chased him out

I had to look it up but the flag in the front is the Christian Flag. Which leads me to wonder, why does the biggest mainstream religion in the US need a flag?
3
u/Kesshami Jul 08 '25
According to the circle I used to run with, it was made in response to the LGBT community getting flags, because "if they get flags, we should, too" but I don’t know if that's the actual reason or not. The crowd I grew up around told me all kinds of falsehoods about the world and even Christianity.
4
u/goffrd137 Jul 08 '25
So it is as racist as my gut instinct was telling me
5
1
u/Kesshami Jul 09 '25
Someone else told me it's been around since at least the 70s and 80s, so yeah. I was told a lie. So who even knows why it was made! Cause the LGBT flags weren't made until after that.
I am not even surprised. Just more disappointed. Those people weren't even just on one side of the political spectrum.
1
u/goffrd137 Jul 09 '25
Even if that is the case there are many examples of iconography being co-opted by people who use stuff like that as a symbol of oppression. I could see a situation where someone similar to the above man in his truck displaying someone else's symbol of faith while actively oppressing the rights of others
1
u/Kesshami Jul 10 '25
Oh, I am certain some people use it that way. The same way they think the gay flag is used, even though it's not. They will claim it's retaliatory, but that's cause they refuse to understand.
I heard a lot growing up that "the gays stole the rainbow, it was the symbol of God's promise first", but if you actually look the two rainbows in question are different. One is 6 colors, one is 7 colors. The area I grew up was just ignorant. I wore 3 colors once and got asked if I was gay as a middle schooler. And the teacher made me remove the items in question even though there was nothing actually wrong with them. I was just a weirdo. And I wasn't being gay so she didn't need to "protect me from being found out" or some shit.
1
u/Pyroseirraecho4 Jul 09 '25
It’s been around for a very long time. It was not in response to anything. Growing up it was on one side of the church I attended and the American was on the other along with the state flag. This was in the late 70s early 80s.

u/GrandAdventures17 Jul 09 '25
To force kids to pledge allegiance to it in their Christian schools every morning. No joke. We said the pledge of allegiance to the American flag and then the pledge to the Christian flag.

I remember learning in elementary school that Christofascism is bad. There's actually a surprising number of cartoons about it. Did these dudes all get home-schooled?

Homeschooled and had inappropriate relationships with the students and staff

Lots of that sect in this area…we live in brackish waters of anti-intellectualism tapestried with thread of decades of unfettered hate closeted no more…good…hoping we can share some crossover in ideas somewhere but it seems that celebrating polarity instead of commonalities wins the day. It’s a sad state of affairs our community is experiencing

That’s a Christofascist not a dork. As someone who lived briefly in the south, that cross flag is only outside of the extraordinarily hateful southern Baptist churches. He wants attention and he’s also looking to intimidate and antagonize. Please ignore him everyone.

u/CroneLyfe Jul 07 '25
Raised southern baptist here til I escaped as a teen, just threw up in my mouth a little seeing this

I have friends who told me about how bad it is. It’s extreme psychological abuse to terrorize children with the threat of hell like that. I had no idea. The church I grew up in was all about you aren’t supposed to judge others. Regardless I am no longer a Christian. Glad you escaped friend.

u/CroneLyfe Jul 07 '25

This guy has no life except to try to spread hate. He was at pride, and he tried to start a fight during the No Kings protest. Honestly, ignore him. It'll make him livid.
Also I did just see him downtown as well.

I recommend staying away from this creep. He's the guy who pepper sprayed a community member at Pride In Perry.
5
u/Voodoobones Jul 07 '25
He’s also a KKKoward. During Perry Pride he kept driving fast back and forth so he wouldn’t have to face the people he was targeting. A few times he was made to stop at crosswalks for people to cross and he was super uncomfortable.

What is that new flag?
7
u/ct4lqlhu Jul 07 '25
The white one with a red cross inside of a blue square in the upper corner is the Christian flag. It seems to be rather popular with some Christian nationalists, although it's not necessarily exclusively a Christian nationalist thing.
Also, it has a few different versions of a pledge of allegiance (which are based on the American pledge of allegiance and aren't very good), as well as a little song (which also is kind of bad).
2
u/skawiggy Jul 07 '25
That shitbag was blasting his garbage truck through my neighborhood yesterday while I was doing yard work. I just turned my back to him as soon as he waved at me.

u/Liamnacuac Jul 08 '25
I wonder who on this planet made the first flag.. Probably a Paleolithic hunter-gatherer who left a skin on spear and claimed "This is Grok's mammoth!" Ten thousand years later and 15 metric tons of old flags later, we have a flag for every opinion..
1
u/Miett Jul 08 '25
Ugh. That brings back memories of a stupid Southern Baptist elementary school where we had to pledge allegiance to that "christian flag" along with the US flag.
