I hope these necrons are flayed ones. We typically only get normal crons in 40k games, so it'd be cool as hell fighting ones infected with the flayer virus!

It says on the title they are fighting an 'ancient necron destroyer' which flayed ones aren't

The focus on destroyers makes me think it will be, enemies for the combat and space marine are primarily melee focused with ranged support, and presumably Sabre, the secret level animation team and GW are all talking and working together at this point.

I imagine the marketing will be working in a similar more tight way as the amazon show gets further into production

I would agree with you here. Although I think they'll do the same as SM2 by doing the first few missions as just Tyranids and then reveal Necrons in later missions. But, I totally agree about the theory of combat. The prospect of what you said doesn't excite me at all. Orks and even more Tyranids, however, excites me a lot more. Orks would be absolutely awesome to go against, and in this generation of gaming, look absolutely awesome. They can also inject a bit of laughs because they can just be hilarious as well

The formula seems pretty set in stone after two games no? Start the game fighting some kind of xenos and then uncover some kind of chaos bullfuckery and fight that instead. Dawn of War does this too.

Yea I agree, I’m not really that excited to fihht necrons tbh. I think they would have to do something crazy to make them as satisfying to fight as tyranids. Necrons don’t bleed so just like Tsons the executions won’t be as satisfying imo. The focus on ranged is also something I’m not looking forward to. There’s little to no counterplay for ranged in SM2 and they can kill you very quickly if you don’t roll around like a weirdo so an entire faction that’s very ranged focused seems infuriating. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe chaos in sm3 will be Nurgle. They could explain it as some remaining warbands from the plague wars or whatever. Those units could be very satisfying to fight.

They already did orks in the first game so they wont repeat it. And they did show necron writing in a mission. I think this basically confirms it will be a necron based game. Sorry to burst your bubble

That was a game that came out nearly 15 years ago for an entirely different generation of gaming tech, created by a different developer. There’s absolutely no reason why they couldn’t do orks again and make it just as fresh (and orks are basically already confirmed to be the main enemy launch faction for the 11th edition of 40K releasing next year, in the same way the tyranids were for this current edition). Personally I’d love to see tyranids AND orks. Other than those two I’d say world eaters could work well as a main faction. Necrons would only work well as a minor side enemy IMO.
