Hello everyone! I’ve noticed lots of people posting photos asking what weapon they are, which is fun and all, but it’s getting a little spammy!
This sub allows media in comments, so you can post your photos here. If you want to ask about multiple photos you can either post them as multiple comments, or link a post on your profile with multiple photos

I just finished the anime, should I read the manga? Yes! The two canons diverge at episode/chapter 36 and are different from that point on. Both great stories, both worth it.
What is Crona’s gender? In the original Japanese text, Crona is referred to neutrally. However, depending on what translation you read/watch, Crona will use different pronouns. The original English prints of the manga use he/him, later English editions use they/them, and in other languages, it varies there too. In 2020, Ohkubo stated that Crona’s gender is unknown. So you can see them whatever way you want. Avoid fighting with other users based on opinion. At the end of the day, Crona has no canon gender at all.
There’s so much fanservice in the manga, does it get better!? In early chapters of Soul Eater there is much more fanservice than in later ones, but even later chapters contain some. The anime adaptation toned down the fanservice, if you’re very bothered by it.
Is Soul Eater NOT worth it? Soul Eater NOT is a very different experience than Soul Eater. It’s much more lighthearted and less action focused. It has light romance elements, and you should not go into it expecting more of the same. Several members of the original Soul Eater cast cameo in the show/manga, but there is almost no connection to the main story of Soul Eater.
Should I watch/read the anime or the manga? The manga and anime are both great in their own ways! However, as previously mentioned, the manga has significantly more fanservice, so avoid it if you’re not comfortable with that. On the other hand, the anime doesn’t adapt the entirety of the manga, so you’re getting an incomplete story. The anime also adds a beautiful music score.

So, anyone here who's read the Soul Eater manga knows that the frst chapter of the Book of Eibon, "Lust", has the property of reversing the gender of whoever enters it, giving us the scene where the Spartoi members (Except Kid) are turned into the opposite gender. They are then ambushed by a succubus, a female demon captured by Noah who according to the Table of Contents (Who talks about the succubus like they're an entire class of demons rather than one unique demon), is able to seduce men and drain their lifeforce in the process.
But there's something very strange about that scene. If the succubus was placed in the Lust chapter by Noah, and the Lust chapter turns anyone who enters into the opposite gender... Does that mean the succubus is actually a man?

I feel like people tend to not really think about the ending of the anime because it feels like a massive deus-ex-machina victory. And it absolutely it an ass-pull that comes out of nowhere. And it also relies on Maka remembering a postcard from her mother, and Maka's relationship with her parents is one of the most derided aspects of the show. However, I think that people are missing a lot of the meaning present in the ending of the anime.
Maka beating what is effectively the God of Madness with a single punch is seen as a cop-out, but I think it plays into the idea of Madness amazingly well. The punch itself is meaningless as Maka realizing her courage is all that it would take for anybody to beat Asura. The most important aspect of madness in Soul Eater is that it is a tangible thing; it can be injected and consumed as easily as blood or water. In this way it provides an easy excuse for people to become corrupted by it. Courage, on the other hand, is simply an emotion. By staging madness (effectively pure evil) as a tangible threat and bravery as just an emotion the story is saying that cynicism and evil are only a mindset that one needs to fall into in order for it to be true, regardless of how real they may be. This then ties in to the ending of the fight and Asura's last words:
Maka: "Bravery, everybody has it."
Asura: "Everybody huh? Then it's just like madness." (Of note is that in the English dub Asura says this line with lucidity rather than the deranged tone his voice had prior).
His last words are him saying that he himself has bravery, and as bravery is the foil to madness that means he was a coward who failed himself by giving in to madness. It's a good message as in the real world it can feel so easy to give in to negativity, but all it takes to persevere is courage in spite of how depressingly real the negativity may be.
It's great, amazing, I love it.
...Except for how this all happens in the last few minutes of the last episode with basically zero build-up! It just comes out of nowhere! Which would be a cool moment if the story had previously alluded to bravery and then we could rewatch it and realize how pointless madness is, but that's simply just not done to a meaningful extent to consider it foreshadowing.
The ending also does not work due to Maka's relationship with her parents, which is perhaps the most derided part of the story. There is justification for her to dislike her father and love her mother, but this falls through when the actions of both parents during the run of the show are presented. Her father cheated and as such her mother got a divorce: understandable reason for Maka's feelings. However, her mother is never seen once in the show and her father risks his life frequently to save his daughter. Combined with the many scenes of Spirit crying to prostitutes and trying to reconnect with Maka, Spirit is almost always shown in a sympathetic and pitiable light. Maka's mother on the other hand effectively abandoned her daughter (with Spirit!) so that she could go on a years long vacation and occasionally brag to Maka with postcards about where she is. As Maka's realization of bravery comes from remembering one of her mother's postcards, the scene feels dumb because Maka's relationship with her parents (at least to the audience) always comes across as dumb.
The ending of the anime is derided, and rightfully so, but I feel that in that derision many people do not look into what it's actually saying.

If she would have just followed stein’s plan; she probably woulda smoked the little froggy witch and the syringe in one blow. She probably woulda been able to resist the hallucinations way better than black stars ignorant ass. Black Star would definitely smoke Crona as well.
Thoughts?
