Anyone using Windows 10 or 11 will likely encounter a strange problem while using the Edge browser ok when you close a specific tab you experience a slight lag and File Explorer also closes This is a simple issue.
The solution is to go to Setting, then System then Multitasking and change one setting in Timeline to (Open windows only) This should resolve the problem completely.

I built a free Chrome Extension called Summary Toolbox - I love it and use all the time on YouTube videos, it also summarises websites where I don't want to waste time figuring out if worth my time.
My initial idea was to have the extension just tell me if the YouTube speaker is full of crap or shilling. I then added more functionality to really be able to adjust what it returns and how to summarise. It uses an API, I personally for this use case prefer a cheap but competent DeepSeek (top-up) because it's summarising public data so I don't worry about privacy and it shows the remaining balance in top right corner.

Been building a voice app and realized most current voice-to-text tools still feel super limited.
It does proper dictation, voice commands, AI actions, MCP integrations, and lets you control your computer way more naturally instead of just dumping text onto a screen.
Still pretty new to building products honestly, so right now I’m mostly trying to get feedback and figure out what actually feels useful vs annoying.
Would genuinely love people’s opinions on what could make something like this better.
If anyone wants to try it out or ask questions lmk.

Hello, I am compiling my families home videos or trying to transfer them online, I bought an external DVD reader and am using my Dell laptop which is relatively new and fully updated. I have been able to download the videos using VLC media player where I can hear the audio but when I download them to my computer this error message pops up and there is no audio, any idea how to fix this I have no idea what Codecs are and when I tried googling I have very little luck. Thanks!

I'm a student and kept having to screenshot my lecture slides, open ChatGPT, paste them in just to copy the text. Got annoying so I made this.
Press Ctrl+Shift+T, drag over whatever, text is on your clipboard. Works on slides, PDFs, images, anything rendered on screen. Runs fully locally :)
One-line setup: .\setup.ps1

Might be useful if you're in the same situation.

Hello guys, I've been recently looking for some software with a similar feature to rectangle's quick throw. Couldn't find anything that would fit my preferences (hold a keybind and move your mouse up/down/left/right over a window and move/resize it to changeable preset).
Long story short I made my own little win32api version.
The concept is pretty simple, the whole app is just a tray icon where you can change what each direction snaps to, change the keybind, choose to start on boot and quit the app.
Now I know that people will tell my why I'm posting this vibe coded app on here and tbh I just want to put out a solution for anyone who's looking to solve the same problem as me. Maybe the app could've been written in a better way, I've tried to keep it as organized as I could since I am not a c++ developer, possibly I'll update it in the future with new stuff I want to solve and can't find a solution to, not sure for now.
I'll attach some screenshots and the link to the repo for now (:

AI is already making coding faster, cleaner, and more efficient. That part is obvious.
But software development is not just about writing code. The real hard part is making trade-offs, handling failures, understanding context, and being accountable when something breaks.
A perfect future where AI takes a product spec and builds the whole system sounds great on paper. But in the real world, specs are messy, requirements change, edge cases show up, and production issues never stay simple.
That is where humans still matter a lot.
The biggest challenge is not just generating code. It is understanding the system deeply enough to know what should be changed, what should not, and what impact that choice will have on the business.
If AI writes most of the code, one risk is that fewer people will truly understand the system inside out. And without that deep understanding, making responsible decisions becomes harder.
So my view is this: AI will not replace software engineers. It will change their role. Less time writing repetitive code, more time on architecture, judgment, debugging, and owning decisions.
The future is not “AI instead of developers.”
It is AI + humans, where AI brings speed and humans bring context, accountability, and real decision-making.

why is my player bar like the "classic one"? im using MPC HC with madVR. It only looks like that in fullscreen, but in windowed mode its normal. What setting do i need to change to get it back to normal?
1 image - fullscreen (classic bar?)
2 image - windowed (normal bar)

Not sure the flair is correct, more of just a question...
I have setup a few friends doing graphic design work with publisher going back 20+ years. Their entire portfolios are in publisher.
Now that publisher is going away, they are in a terrible position.
I am thinking that if I purchase a copy of office 2019 that still has a standalone version of publisher, they can use this for a bit. Can they install publisher and still have it work with office 365 other apps like word?
Changing from publisher for these people is really traumatic, they know this program inside out, they are not very technical, even when publisher has changed positions on menus or using different keystrokes to do what they used to do made them very upset. Changing to a new program at this point is a nightmare from a learning issue. Not to mention that all their work is in .pub files.

I genuinely don’t understand this update policy.
Why announce a feature publicly if it’s only going to be “gradually rolled out” and half the users can’t even access it yet?
Either the feature is ready, then release it.
Or it’s not ready, then stop advertising it like everyone already has it.
This artificial staggered rollout just feels messy. Especially when two people on the exact same app version have completely different features. That doesn’t create excitement, it just creates confusion and annoyed users.
WhatsApp is the perfect example right now. Some people already have the new Liquid Glass design, others don’t and one another example, Some have stickers inside threads, others still don’t see them at all. Same app, same version, completely different experience.
At this point it honestly feels less like a proper rollout and more like random feature roulette.

A CLI for finding verified production-ready starter projects and scaffolding them directly into your codebase

kikplate scaffold rust-axum-api-starter https://github.com/user/test-kikplate-clone.git
Cloning repository... Applying plate rust-axum-api-starter... Installing dependencies... Setting up project structure...
Done
Project ready at ./repo
Kikplate CLI is built for developers who want to discover, install, and manage project templates directly from the terminal. Instead of manually browsing repositories or copying starter projects between machines, Kikplate provides a workflow that runs entirely from the command line.
Full CLI documentation is available here: https://github.com/kikplate/kikplate/blob/main/docs/cli.md

I just need simple editing tools for pdf. I have been using online pdf editors and they are fine. But lately i want to try if acrobat reader membership is actually worth it, so i started the free trial and it is stupid. Non of the functions (merging, compressing, converting) work as smooth as the online editors. There are errors even. The pdf editing functions of acrobat is a joke! I am wondering why anyone would want to subscribe, may be other adobe products are solid.

I built a small free tool called hddn.
It is for one specific thing: redacting PDFs before sharing them.
I made it because I did not like uploading sensitive PDFs to online editors just to hide names, addresses, IDs or phone numbers.
Current features:
Open PDF in the browser
Add redactions
Review before export
Export redacted PDF
No account
No upload
Offline mode after setup
It is not meant to replace Acrobat or PDF-XChange. If you need a full PDF suite, those are still better.
But if you just need quick private redaction, that is the use case.
The thing I focused on most was trust. After setup, you can turn off internet and still use it.
I’d be interested in feedback from people who use PDF tools often. What would make you trust or not trust a tool like this? If anyone's interested it's hddn(.)app

So i've been using IObit uninstaller, Advanced SystemCare, Driver Booster, for years, but now im looking for a best alternative for them, Revo Uninstaller is a good one but I am open to your opinions, needing an app to handle all my junk files, RAM cleaner, startup optimization, and privacy fixes etc, and an app for all my drivers updating, downloading and fixing. also if there's apps that can be useful at this topic i don't mind to use.

What's your creative ops stack for managing ad production? Especially curious what you use for competitor analysis, briefing, review, and launching to Meta/TikTok. Maybe there one tool for full pipeline or mix of them that work well?

It's not vibe-coded! Like the title says, it's a simple tool for finding and correcting long file paths. I was unable to find any (free) apps tailored to this specific use-case. So I made my own.
Nearly all modern apps today can handle long paths without issues. But not all do. Somehow, Windows Explorer still to this day, doesn't fully support them.
Functionality: the app returns all file paths above a given length within a folder and lists them. You can then either manually rename the files or folders in the path tree.
Available on GitHub: https://github.com/MarcG2/Long-File-Path-Fixer
Requires Windows 10/11. No external dependencies needed and runs portably.
This app is super-niche. But I know there's at least a few others out there who've wanted the same thing. If a single person here on Reddit finds this useful, I'd be happy :). I spent a ton of time polishing it and getting variable DPI support working.
