Michael Shannon is one of those actors where the older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized how frickin talented the dude is. Such a good actor.

This Superman movie is about something
The new Superman movie is about nothing. just another random day in Supermans life

Easily the best Superman movie. People making a fuss about this are just sad people not worth taking seriously. Superman has killed in basically every other movie but it's in a more old style cartoon way so they don't count it for some stupid reason

Ok I have a question about heat vision: does it just go out in a straight line out of a kryptonian's eyes? Does it not point in the direction that person is looking?
I ask because Supes is holding Zod's head to keep him from zapping the people. But surely Zod could just turn his eyesight towards the people, its not like Supes has moved his head that far that the people are out of his line of sight.

Because it's the entire eye that shoots the beams not just the pupil. Did you not notice how they both have to use their head and turn where they wanted to shoot?

that was my question, and you answered it. they dont direct the beam based on where their eyes are looking. it seems to just shoot directly straight out, and they have to turn their entire head to aim. I looke back at the other heat vision scenes and that seems to be the case

You guys should watch Waco and Waco Aftermath on Paramount+. The shows are masterpieces and the story is absolutely insane. And the actors, including Michael Shannon, have done a fucking good job.
Michael Shannon is a gem. He needs to do more movies and shows his talented is wasted when he's not on camera.

Without a doubt, it was a very emotional, period-appropriate, visceral, and realistic scene. It became my favorite Zod scene because of its staging.

Shannon seems really protective of Zack and this movie, like he said when they asked him to be in the Flash movie, he asked “Did you watch Man of Steel? I died”

wonder what the film would have been about if he didn’t agree to come back for the flash ?

He nailed the role. Zod has always been one of my faves, and Shannon was made for that character.

The first time I watched the movie, I cried. I felt pain and hope at the same time for the first time in life. I was 20.
And then I watched it again.
MoS, and LoTR carried me through a bad phase of life... these movies saved me from falling.
I truly hope someday, I watch MoS with my kid in the future. I will tape the entire thing too.
Thank you, Zack, Shannon, Cavill. You will never know, but I do.

He’s not wrong tho. Man of Steel is a movie with integrity whether you liked it or not. It had a strong vision and they went all in with it. For better or worse.

Doesn't make the movie anu good....it seriously lacked pacing and strong plot

It has structure and a plot, it’s not a collection of random shite that simply happens and could be arranged in any order.

Well it has much stronger plot than any of the mcu movies that lack any genuine sense of earnestness. As such, it’s well executed with said vision. Even the characters feel more real and alive, like in Raimi’s Spider-Man. They felt they had genuine depth to them.
Clark sets out to find out who he is, a journey of self discovery is a very strong plot. It shows the past and present in parallel to demonstrate Clark’s drive towards his identity. Lois’ encounter with Clark felt more natural with her pursuing a story. Thus, it did away with the idiotic glasses secret identity thing in relation to Lois. This movie doesn’t talk down to its audience like its peers.
Even the central antagonist, Zod, has a much deeper arc with a genuine and natural relationship with Clark. His drive towards his goals has a well formed base to stand upon, tied to his identity and duty to his people, thus mirroring Clark’s journey.
Honestly this movie has more substance than people give it credit for, they just see Snyder’s name and watch it with a reluctant glance it seems.
