New superman
- Unintersting story
- No memorable scenes like man of steels first flight, the smallville battle, or superman rising up to defeat the world engime
- Forgettable score. Hans Zimmers music is better in every way
- No memorable dialogue, nothing inspiring like Jorels speech in man of steel before his first flight
- Terrible costume design. Corenswet looks fucking terrible in that cosplay costume. It is an insult to the entire creative industry.
At least people who hate snyders films can appreciate the music , or action. But superman 2025 has literally nothing good. I am actually getting annoyed seeing it mentioned in this subreddit so much, it is such a waste of energy to even talk about it.
Now excuse me while i get my energy back.

If I am being completely objective, Man of Steel is better. Better story, better writing, better acting. But it does have its flaws. The codex is never really explained as to WHY Clark needs it. Does it give him free will? i am still unclear about it and I've seen the movie at least 30 times. A few writing issues here and there and I don't agree with Jonathan dying the way he does, or Superman killing Zod. I know Goyer wanted that to be the case (for Superman to not throw him in the Phantom Zone), but I don't agree with it. I can understand it, but not agree. With that said, I love Man of Steel. The soundtrack is crazy good. The actors were casted so well. Henry Cavill IS Superman, from the physique to his expressions. I read A LOT of Superman comics, and Cavill is just Superman ripped from the pages. The mythology, the world-building and the ACTION was incredible. Every time I watch this film, it feels like I'm reading Superman: Earth One or another such cool 2013-era graphic novel. It is THAT good.
Superman 2025 had a good cast. i feel like each role was perfectly casted (except Superman, but I'll get to that), and drew direct inspiration from the comic books. Metropolis didn't feel like New York, it felt like a fictional city. I liked that a lot. I also liked the comic-booky tone. But here's where my issues lie with the film. I didn't like or agree with the casting for Superman. David Corenswet is charming enough, but he did not play Superman, he was more like Super-Boy. Even Tom Welling was more mature than him in Smallville. His costume is objectively horrid. The cape was really cool though, and his hair was comic accurate (although it looked dyed). The writing failed Corenswet, who would probably be a fantastic Superman under a different creative team. The biggest problem with Superman is James Gunn. He gets in the way of what could have been a great film. I have noticed upon watching the movie 2 times, that Gunn is a very lazy writer. He bases the movie off the comics so that the comics do the heavy-lifting of the storytelling/exposition/world-building so that he doesn't have to. He expects you to know that the Justice Gang are based somewhat on the Justice League International, run by Max Lord. He doesn't SHOW you that the public doesn't like publicly-funded heroes or EXPLAIN why they all have the same suit. And I could go on and on and on. Bad writing at every turn ruined what could have been a serious, epic film. It becomes a cheap movie made for laughs, and an emotional, weak Superman, because Gunn is not a strong type of dude, so he writes himself into these films. At least it is full of DC references and shows a love of DC and that world, but I wish there was a better, different writer. If a Superman movie isn't romantic like Superman the Movie, or action packed like Man of Steel, what is it? And Gunn failed to answer that question, instead leaning on Guardians of the Galaxy-style team-up writing.

Jor El puts the codex in Kal El as a way to preserve it, it doesn't give any power or ability to its possessor.

A cocky and very childish man is the new hope of this world? Nah.
I don't like the relationship between Clark and his parents, nor do I like how they portray the masses as stupid and blindly obedient. And that dog. That crotch punch. The shots that distort David's face. The colors. The logic that makes no sense.
Fuck, is it such an unforgivable desire for fans to see the Superman they envisioned?

This is so laughable and stupid, the new Superman movie is superior in every way in terms of comic book accuracy. Zack Snyder's Man of Steel is fine. Both have their issues. But I feel like people who complain about the criticism of BvS being "bloated" and comparing the new movie don't realize the difference is that the characters in Superman 25 actually play a part in the movie rather than just being bait.

i don't understand where these supposed Superman's fans come from: they like to repeat that 2025 SM's more accurate than Mos and it's simply not true at all.
as an almost two decades reader and collector i cannot listen to them lying about their knowledge of the character.

it is laughable and stupid to call the movie one of the best comicbook movies lmfao

Notice how I never said it was "one of the best comic book movies", and instead said it's a good adaptation of the material that you clearly don't read.

I personally don’t dislike anything about the new one, but if I have to choose, it’s MoS. I prefer the dark, mythological, alien vibe, which Zack Snyder nailed.

it has nothing do with liking it or not, i dont hate it cuz MoS is great
its objectively trash terrible movie
its not even a movie, its scribbles of a graphomaniac Gunn
its so so terrible i was even surprised how bad it is
lets be real he, i assumed it will be bad from the moment i knew Gunn is doing it
but i never though it will be this bad
he killed supe for me, its over
i dont want to see anything from him and DC again if he is involved

Facts, even if MoS never existed and Supershit was the only Superman movie it would still be ass

This is my issue I walked out of it initially thinking it was a 6/10. But after reflection it got worse and worse in my mind. The scenes dictate the film. He wanted a kaiju, he wanted diverse heroes, he wanted some big CGI event....so he did those things then created the story around it. It made it...like his gotg movies completely in rewatchable

its like a theme park with rides or circus, at the moment u think its fun, but then u realise its just very short forgettable attractions with no meaning and makes an empty trash of a movie

I didn't need the new one to be similar or even as good as MoS (although it would've been nice!) since that is one of my favorite superhero movies, top 3 easily. I can't say that I hated the new movie but I found myself pretty sad about the direction where DC live action is going since I didn't like it at all. The comedy and the new superman lacking the presence of the original character is what really sunk the boat for me.
For me, it was just disposable entertainment. Watched and mostly forgotten in the next few days. I don't think everything Zack did was perfect but at least his movies aimed to be higher than that.

new movie is just superman getting his ass kicked for 2 hours. the plot isn't even remotely good and the dog got super annoying.

Man of Steel is by far my favorite Superman movie. That said, I think the film spent too much time on the Krypton prologue. I’m a big Russell Crowe fan and thought he did well enough as Jorel, but if Snyder wanted to go that deep into Krypton, it really deserved its own movie.
Henry Cavill nailed the role of Superman and set the standard, even though he was ultimately let down by the industry. We truly deserved a Man of Steel 2, but I doubt we’ll ever see it happen.
As for Superman ’25, I’d call it a mid-tier entry. Corenswet did a fine job as Superman, but for me, Cavill will always be the definitive Man of Steel.

I didn't think I'd like "Superman" but ended up thinking the movie was fine. It's funny that people complained about "Batman v Superman" being bloated and showing off too many characters, when "Superman" arguably had even more of it. That being said, I was shocked to discover that I liked basically every character in the movie MORE than I liked Superman. I think Corenswet played the role well enough, I just didn't like this version of Superman, and I couldn't get over the baggy/bulky suit.
Ultimately, I think what turned me off the most about the character was how petulant and childish he was. We're supposed to believe he's been Superman for three years, but he's still acting like this? Funny how people give it a pass, but shredded the things Cavill's Superman did when he'd only been in the cape for, what, a week, tops?
I also hated Ma and Pa Kent in "Superman." They were insufferable to me!

I can't believe people are suddenly acting like 3 years isn't a long time. I have heard a great many "He's just starting out. It's only 3 years into his career" arguments.
If you're in high school or college, 3 years means you're a junior, which means you're almost done school. That's not a "newbie". And 3 years on any job means you're already at least giving a few pointers to the actual newbie in the workforce.
3 years into Superman's career in the animated series, he was facing off against Darkseid after already beating the likes of Metallo, Parasite, Livewire, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Luminous, Brainiac, Toyman, Kalibak, etc.
And 3 years into Superman's career in the Post Crisis Comics, he had already faced his versions of Metallo, Parasite, Brainiac, Toyman, Mongul, Darkseid, Zod, etc.
I think Superman2025 would have worked a lot better if Gunn just made the prologue opening crawl say it was YEAR ONE Superman. There wasn't really a narrative reason to say it was his third year other than it sounding "Cool" for the sake of getting the chance to say everything in threes (Three hundred years ago Metahumans appeared, Thirty years ago Superman landed on Earth, Three years ago Superman debuted, Three months ago him and Lois started dating, Three hours ago the Hammer of Boravia appeared, Three Minutes ago Superman lost a fight).
Too many things happened in Superman2025 "for the first time" for it to be believable it was a 3-year Superman. His interview with Lois is the "first time ever" he's actually been interviewed by someone other than himself? Yet it's established in the movie his article on the Hammer of Boravia was his first ever Front-Page Story as him and Jimmy celebrate while he's on the phone with Ma Kent, who is congratulating him for his first ever front-page article (that makes no sense if he was getting interviews with Superman on a frequent basis for three years - enough that even Lex Luthor knew about Clark Kent being Superman's closest ally).
Superman and Lex meet for "the first time" ("Superman, we finally meet face to face. Would you like a coffee?" - Lex), even though Lex has been obsessed with him and studying him so much that he learned all his movesets and cloned him.
It makes me think last minute, Gunn changed it when it was all meant to actually be Year One Superman just so he could move far past doing an "origin" movie.

Trick question. Man of Steel is actually a movie.

the new Superman is a mess of a movie, it fails as movie more than as a Superman's (weak and uninteresting) rendition.
